Yeah when i try to scroll with the touch pad it just moves the point to the side of the screen and kind of locks up.
I've experimented with the mouse settings and its not working
anyone have a clue whats wrong?

Have you installed / reinstalled the drivers for the mouse? What browser are you using? Any additional tidbits you can provide might get you better answers..

are you browsing in Firefox? I had problems with scrolling and updating touchpad synaptics drivers corrected the problem

The scroll feature of the stock and official drivers is really awful. Try using the Windows drivers, or the Synaptics drivers instead.

Actually, I think the Synaptics drivers require other mouse drivers to be there in the first place. Try uninstalling the Elantech touchpad software, and delete the touchpad from your Windows device list, and then reboot. This should leave you using the Windows touchpad drivers.

I couldn't get the Synaptics drivers to recognize my touchpad as anything more than wheel mouse; where all the useful options aren't there cause it doesn't think it's a touchpad. -_-
Anyone know why it wouldn't be working properly?

If I keep the Synaptics drivers installed, then install the Elantech driver overtop, the acceleration and such from the elantech works, and it fixes the scrolling problem; but I still can't access any functions in the synaptics part, and I don't really like the idea of having 2 mouse drivers installed on top of each other.

I got rid of the elantech driver, and am just using the windows PS2 driver. It recognizes a 2 finger tap as right click and 3 finger tap as middle, and the scrolling works as it should. This scrolling thing is the thing that is my biggest disappointment with buying Compal. Which is saying something good about Compal in that it's a nearly trivial issue, but at the same time, how hard can it be? With a Dell or HP the huge userbase would have demanded a fix, and they would have acted on it.

It may not be effecting enough people to escalate to a problem... I'm not effected by this either the stock driver or the updated driver while using Firefox, currently I've got the Elantech stuff uninstaller though cause I'm mostly using my VX Revolution.. still works with the touch pad though..(doesn't snap the mouse to the slider either)

Please keep in mind that a VERY small fraction of "happy" consumers report their findings.. it's mostly people that complain that collaborate on tools such as this forum..

Did you remove the partition and reformat? You might not have gotten a good clean install which might be causing your problems.

Also, I can take just about any computer and re-install windows 3 times, and each time atleast some of the hardware addresses will be different then the other installations... This tends to cause alot of problems between users on the same hardware and in my opinion is the worst flaw in a Windows based O/S.
