I woke up to my laptop awaking from sleepmode by itself.

    What the heck's going on?

    Hehe, no man!

In order to awake my laptop from suspend, the other way is to hit Fn + F1 or press the power on button.

And yet, one day it wakes itself.

I would only start to worry if it taps you on the shoulder to wake you in the morning. [ :)]

mine does this too, the only way i found to stop it was to turn off auto hibernate for the running on battery setting. I figure it wakes itself up to check its timer for hibernation or something.

It would cycle sleep/wake/sleep/wake with a ten minute cycle to it.

glad to be of help. Before i figured this out it was driving me crazy, as i wanted to be able to put it in standby after a class and stick it in my backpack and not worry about it turning on and overheating and burning itself out. Plus the fact that it prolly shouldn't do that.
