I've been trying to update my BIOS for days using Nero boot CD and the Compal BIOS files. Keep getting a "fail to open .wph" error when I start the Phlash16. Someone suggested resetting my bios to the default setting before trying to flash again. That someone is no available now. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Think that's the problem?
I'm trying to fix a clock problem that's supposed to be addressed in the more recent bios.
    Thanks

i had that problem too. the solution, if i think what you're encountering is what it actually is, is that you need to open ur bat file with wordpad or something and make sure that the file name in the bat file matches the actual file name of your bios file. for example, my bat file had the something that went like this: phlash16 gl30-111A.wph /x (blah blah blah) when my actual .wph file was named gl30_111A.wph. See the difference in the - and _ ? Just fix that in the bat, remake your bootable CD or recopy onto bootable usb or just simply type in the command correctly without using the BAT file and you should be fine.

When I update the bios, I just run the .bat file.

OK, how do open my bios file to see my bat file and check it?

When you unzip the file that you downloaded, there should be a few files and one of them is the .bat file. Boot into dos with the cd and goto where the files are saved. Then just type the name of the file like HGL30024A.bat

open wordpad or any other word processing software and select file, open and point it to your .bat file that you downloaded.

mikysee, i did the same thing as you when i first tried to flash my bios and i had the exact same problem as carbpow because of the fact that the .bat file did not point to the right file because of the "_" in gl30_111A(or whatever bios version).wph as i stated above.

For some reason the Nero boot CD won't let me view the individual files. I'll contact the folks that sold me this HGL30. They should have some answers.
    Thanks for all the information.

I received a USB floppy delivered and disc with the new bios on it but the drive is not shown on "my computer", only my DVD drive. When I boot using F12 the floppy shows up but I then get an error of disc not found. Weirdest thing I've ever seen.
