Righto, I know the golden rule "Don't mess with what does not need fixing", but I still wonder, as my BIOS version is 1.12 in my Compal FL90, would there be any point in upgrading it?

Such as perhaps Intel VT and DEP maybe are enabled from 1.12 to 1.19? (Merom CPU)

DEP is enabled with the 1.19 but I'm not sure about VT. The new bios introduces stuff like better thermal and memory management so I think you should upgrade to at least the 1.18 which is the last official one. 1.19 is stuck on perpetual beta as compal is not developing bios for the ifl90/jfl92 anymore.

In my opinion go for the 1.18 BIOS, no problems there!

I currently use 1.18 and the fan is spinning all the time. it stops spinning when CPU at 46 celcus and it rarely happens. Does 1.19 have better temp management or something like this. Should i upgrade?

Edit: laptop was recently cleaned from dust.

Is it running full blast? The low speed is barely audible.1.19 keeps the same thermal management.

Are you sure it's 46C. In my case it stops at 49C and starts again at 55C to bring it down. Using 119, no probs so far.

Rivatuner's hardware monitor with core 2 duo plug-in shows me that. Sometimes it wont stop even on 46 celcus. It doesnt blow on full blast and not at minimum speed, somewhere in between. My notebook uses minimum speed very rarely. I thing i'm going to give 1.19 a try.
