The IR is only working with the default remote that's delivered with the notebook.
This remote is delivered when you make the option to install the TV-Tuner which will be an option by the vendor.
So goodluck with your pinnacle PCTV remote.

WRONG! Once the drivers were installed, my laptop responded to all the buttons pressed on my MCE remote. It was annoying, since I have a Windows MCE in the living room, and I was about to tape something in front of my laptop's IR sensor until someone told me how to make Windows ignore the IR (or at least, the IR from my media center).

No not wrong the notebook IR is only working with an MCE remote for Media Center.
Don't so wrong, is advised the user it's not working with any other device like the Pinnacle or else.
SO yes IR is only working with MCE remote.
