I was searching online for a good screen protector that might give a matte finish to a glossy screen, figuring it'd give me screen resolution options with the IFL90.
I stumbled on this thread over in accessories . . .
Awesome website, they have a lot of info up there. It's nearly enough for me that I would consider it a done deal but if I was wrong it'd be an expensive mistake, as I absolutely need at least a passable matte screen.
Has anyone else used Photodon protectors before that can give some input on how the matte versions affect glossy screens?
Assuming there's no more info to be had, what do you guys think of the idea?

I do not like sticking things on my screen, but it's interesting. -
The thing with matte vs glossy is that the surface of a matte screen is rough, and diffuses light a bit. That eats a little contrast. So, you won't get a glossy screen with a cover that retains the advantages of a glossy screen vs the usual matte.
I've used screen protectors on my Palm before.. I wouldn't put them on my laptop screen unless I was desperate. They definately eat a bit of the image's clarity. I wouldn't know if these are better or not, but it's not an expensive mistake if they don't work for you. -

The expensive mistake part comes in if the screen protector fuzzes up the text on the screen so much I can't make it out, then I'm stuck between unreadable text and a screen hidden behind glare. From the looks of things on the site it doesn't appear as bad as that.
If I try them out, I'll be sure to follow up. If they work as well as I hope then I'll be excited to share. -
I'd say if you were to get the WXGA or WXGA+ with glossy screens, to hold off on applying the matte protector. You should really test if you're gonna be distracted by glossy glare, or if it isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
Some hope for matte screen lovers?
