I dont know if anyone else is having problems with the slot in drive on teh zepto 2425W. Basically my drive makes a horrible noise whenever i try and put a cd into it. It sounds lilke the cd is catching on something and if i apply pressure below the drive I can stop teh noise.

I've just emailed zepto (nusystems) saying that i want to claim on warranty although realistically i dont know how long they are going to take to get back to me. Also am i right in thinking that under the sales act and warrany i cannot be charged for the delivery costs?

if anyone else has had a similar thing please let me know and what zepto has done to fix it.

Really hoping zepto pull one out of the hat for this one as my initial experiences are not that great and only morten saved me from cancelling the order completely!

Im so happy i didnt go for the slotin drive on the 6615 i ordered. Hope to have it manday or tuesday.

Seems like Zepto make a poor choise in slotin drive. Too bad, i fell in love with the slotin drive after i saw one in a mac powerbook.

Oh no... I went for the slot in version... just to make sure I wouldn't break the tray while carrying. Well - thinking about it now I didn't break the tray on my old Notebook (from 1999).

Yeah, thats what i thought too. But i never broke of mine (from 1999 also)
And whats the point in trading off in quality, for a "Now i wont accidendely brake off the tray" piss poor slot drive (Not speaking from experience, only from what i have read here and in reviews)

I mean, come on. Who chose this drive. If its this crappy, plus more expensive and people all over are having problems..?? Zepto should get in the game, and scrap the old one, and find a new one that works.

mine is not too bad so far... but i'll probably replace it with a bluray drive once they are realisticly priced :D, it is easily the most noisy part of the laptop xD

I don't think that those drives are bad by design. It's just the lacking support of 8x DVD media that pi**es me off (look at the media list thread - it's a pitty how few discs are supported).

Well i gotta say that i'm impressed. Got an email back from the company and with a few days i was sent a new DVD drive. I just installed it and it's very quiet...whether this will change with time or with the types of disks i use i'm not sure. But i#ve gotta say that i'm impressed with them, especially Ash at Nusystems who emailed me everyday - cheers.

oh re cost of getting drive back, Ashley has said that i've just got to send them the receipt to send the drive back and they will send me the money. pretty pleased.

Did you get a slot-in drive as a replacement or did you go for a tray-loader this time?
