I was cruising around the NBR forums, and found an interesting post about a program for built in laptop sound cards here: that adds SRS WOW effects and the like (3D sound emulation on 2 speaker systems. Put simply, it makes your laptop speakers sound much better).

I was wondering if any of the regulars here have tried this out on the compal laptops. There is a realtek chipset in the compatible list, though I am unsure as to if it is the one in the compal laptops or not.

Other people have also complained that it has screwed over their windows install (dont see how it could...). I am about to try it out, but experiences from others would be nice.

nuts. I was all excited because i tried this out on my buddies' gateway laptop, and it worked perfectly, and sounded great. On my HGL30 however, this does not work :( . makes stuttering noises, and is pretty messed up. Definitely did not cause windows to implode though, so if someone more technically inclined wants to maybe tinker with it a bit to get it working that would be sweet

Yes, I know, the realtek card is not bad in itself. The drivers are decent, it sounds good yadda yadda. It's just well... tinkering is fun
