Speaking of loaded... I think this is the most loaded notebook I have seen so far. What else can you add on this notebook. It is like a swiss-army knife equivalent of notebook.

Has firewire, infrared, LAN, bluetooth, modem, TV tuner, 4 in 1 card reader, video camera, 6 channel analog output, built in 3D sound!!!

It is like a merge of a desktop and an entertainment system. Anything else can you add on this system[?][?][?]

Comparing it with Acer Ferrari and other brands carrying the latest of AMD Athlon line, and the latest of ATI videocard (seen ATI is the best rated at least in this forum and most reviews) THIS ONE IS FULL.

Any comment on Sager notebook with regards to durability of the exterior... [?][?][?]

Have a Dell laptop and it has several crack lines. Seeing the character of the plastic it is made of... it is very brittle Unlike some of the IBM exterior which is somewhat pliable and more resistant to cracking. And hearing comments from this forum... Hewlett Packard and Fujitsu also has a durable exterior for those minor bumps...

Not that I ask of a Panasonic Tough Book which I think you can throw off a wall... a little strength on one's laptop is a big plus for the everyday stress of carrying it everywhere.

How about its handling of heat[?][?][?]...
Heard in this forum that some can cook your lap coz of the heat generated and burn the components.

Has anyone bought Sager notebooks??? Can you tell your experience with technical support or its return policy. [?][?][?]

I see some disadvantage of this notebook...
    1. Its weight... [V]
    2. An option for 15 inch --making it lighter and more portable.
17 inch is not your everyday notebook.[V]
    3. Price[V]
    4. Memory??? - I know little of memory but I have seen some with 1 or 2 GB option... I am not familiar if this for Intel or AMD... An explanation on memory will be appreciated.

If you see a comparable or even more featured notebook with less of the disadvantage...please do post. [ :D][ :D][ :D]

I'd be concerned about battery life here.. this sucker is way loaded.

regarding the memory.. 1gb should be enough for anybody right now.

This is about comparable to what you will get with a P4EE system-lots of power, not a lot of battery. This is the true definition of a DTR.

Sager actually offers a 15.4" Athlon 64 for about $400 less. It also only comes with an ATI MR 9600.

I asked regarding the battery and durability and here's the reply...

" 4750 will probably get at least 2 hours. of course this is less when gaming. the amd in the 4750 has power saving techniques that might make it last 3 hours when just browsing or typing.

They do get hot, but it's not unbearable from what i hear. they are barely warm when idle, but get hotter when gaming for hours.

Sagers are rock solid. One guy's girlfriend threw his 5690 down the stairs and it survived with a small dent, he had no trouble turning it back on. "

Sweet system, but my big issue is that all these 'boutique' systems are way too expensive. I love the power and the features and I don't really care about battery life or weight, but like most people, I'm not made of money. My emachines is keeping me happy so far (no hinge cracks after 4 days and keeping fingers crossed). It runs every piece of software I own nicely and does some things that my desktop can't. I can't see spening $2500+ when there are perfectly capable machines available for a lot less.

The eMachines M6809 (Athlon 64 3200+, 512RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 64MB, 80gig 4200RPM, 15.4inch ) is a great laptop. It ran the demo for Battlefield 1942 Secret Weapons of WWII very well. The two problems I had with it were a slow harddrive and a somewhat fragil feel to the notebook shell and keyboard. The screen was beautiful as well. However, I'm a software and web developer and I use Visual Studio .NET as well as graphic programs and the 6809 wasn't fast enough for me. Initial load times for projects were so much slower than my desktop. It was great connecting to hotspots and had about 3 hours of battery life for what I was doing. I ended up selling it though on ebay and my Sager 8790 will arrive tomorrow (P4HT 1MB L2 Cache, 1024RAM, ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9700 256MB DDR, 60gig 7200rpm, bluetooth, 12 cell bat, 17inch).

I figured out too late I should of just forked over the extra money to begin with to make sure I was getting everything I needed.

Do the Research for your specific needs.

I have purchased the Sager 8790.
    17" WSXGA+ (1680x1050) Screen
Mobility Radeon 9700 w/256MB Video Memory
    Intel® Pentium® 4 3.0GHz HT Processor
    800MHz Frontside Bus Speed, 1MB L2 Cache
    1024MB 400MHz DDR RAM / 60.0GB 7200RPM HDD
    Combo 8X DVD & 24x10x24 CD-RW
    Wireless G
    Bluetooth
    12 cell battery
    No OS

First off. I am an ex-hardcore gamer turned software developer. I don't get into the bench marks and such, I just look noticeable performance. I had previously purchased and eMachines m6809 of which was pretty nice but lacked the performance I wanted while developing software and web apps. I sold the eMachines and purchased the Sager and I am very please. The performance increase is more than noticeable, it's huge. I'm guessing a lot of that comes from the 7200RPM hard drive. The eMachines had only 4200RPM. The other huge improvement is the screen. The large glossy screen has got to be the most beautiful screen I've viewed. It's just crisp and clear all the way. I'm sure gamers will love it. Battery life is about 1.5 to 2 hours. High heat output. Sitting in my living room on a 90+ degree day working with the Sager on my lap is rough going. It's like a personal heater. I'm sure I'll enjoy it in the winter. That's about all I have to say. It's definitely worth the money and is a very solid product. I'm very, very pleased.

Make sure you disable all USB in the BIOS before installing your OS; otherwise your local drive will be H or something other than C. I installed three times before reading about that in the manual.

I have bought 2 Sager laptops from Powernotebooks and am very satisfied with the sales, service and product I have received from them. They are by far the most friendly and professional group of people that I have run across in my many years of working in the
computer industry. I have dealt with many other makers of laptops in my career and pound for pound you cannot find a more configurable, cutting edge brand then Sager. Most, if not all, of the big names cannot or will not give you the ability to configure your system with the latest equipment. And I know this for a fact. The current laptop I have, the Sager NP8890, still has components that other makers are not even offering yet. And their new systems coming out in a couple of months will even be more state of the art and leap that much further ahead of the competition. In my opinion you cannot find a more well respected and user friendly staff anywhere. And if you doubt what I am saying, look them up on Reseller Ratings and look under Top Stores and see who is sitting in the Number 1 slot. Here is a link just for convenience.

    Greetings,
I just purchased an M-Tech D470K (Sager 4750v), and It has all the features you mentioned except the optional TV-tuner (But I did go all the way on the DVD+- and got the 8x Dual Layer). Total cost: $2355

I was originally in the market for a Compaq R3000Z because of it's AMD64 CPU and the BriteView/Xbrite display, but the GPU was way too weak. Then I considered the Acer Ferrari 3200, but the included specs were not worth the asking price, plus it didn't have the BriteView/Xbrite screen. Then I was reffered to Clevo (Sager/M-Tech/ProStar/Hypersonic/ACS/Liebermann/EuroCom/CyberBook/AmazeBlast/ etc.) Since these brands offer the exact same computer with nothing different than the logo slapped on the lid I thought I would shop around. The Sager/ProStar/M-Tech brands offered the best prices, but unlike Sager/ProStar, M-Tech does an LCD test before shipping out your notebook to guarantee that your display has absolutely 100% NO DEAD PIXELS! When you are spending over $2000 I believe that it is very important to not except anything less than perfection of quality. I hope you get your Clevo, you will definitely not be disapointed ;)
