I keep getting this error in Windows Media Player - it refuses to play anything. Media Player Classic says the specified device could not be contacted or something to that degree. A small Mp3 player called Billy still plays mp3s. Oblivion refuses to play any music, but all other in game sounds seem to be there.

What the hell is wrong? Realtek hardware has given me nothing but grief. First the completely unfixable network card, now this. What exactly is wrong? The error messages lack any kind of real detail, I've no way of knowing what's actually wrong, maybe some DLLs are missing I have no idea. I've reinstalled the drivers again and again to no avail. It claims the device is working fine. I've tried Dxdiag too.

I am using Tiny XP, the latest rev I think.
