I decided to switch over to Vista. The last time I tried it turned out not so well, this time it turns out a lot better. I haven't any BSOD so far (I had far too many the last time I tried) and everything is running quite smooth.
The only problem is, Speedstep isn't working. The Vista energy schemes do work, but when I choose maximum battery the clock speed is ALWAYS 1GHz, when I choose balanced, the clock speed is ALWAYS 1.83GHz. Even Notebook Hardware Control doesn't know what do anymore, so for now I'm using RMClock which works quite well actually. But I'd rather use Notebook Hardware Control.
Anyone know how to fix this? A BIOS update maybe? Other notebooks needed an update (Asus etc.), maybe I need to update as well? I'm running on quite an old version, 103B.
Edit: I'm talking about the HEL-80 notebook.

Anyone? There must be at least some people who use Vista on their Compal HEL-80.

I would recommend calling tech support for help.

I will, but they open on Tuesday.

I now have 116B and it's working fine now. NHC is also finally able to detect my battery wear level, it's 20%
!

Back to XP, but NHC doesn't work properly with the new bios anymore. Although NHC says the CPU frequency is 1,83GHz, CPU-Z is showing me something else. So I'm using RMClock now, which I actually like as much as NHC now.
