I heard that they are not making the OCZ any more, is that true?
how long will we still be able to get it before stock runs out?

it is indeed true that OCZ will no longer be the importer for the Flextronics/Arima W840. however, Alienware will continue to sell the M17, as they have a direct contract with Flextronics. Also, all warranties etc will be honored by the respective resellers. rumor has it that another company will take up OCZ's spot in the supply chain as importer, this has yet to be confirmed.
here's the thread that started it all: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=352388 -

i really hope they do i dont want to get a Alienware
i guess i will have to wait til the new Sager comes out -
the Sager with the Core i7 (d90xf? something like that...) will be a beast, definitely. still, as i said, some other company might take OCZ's place and continue to supply the resellers.
-
there are still some ocz's floating around but you would have to check with all the resellers. ocz and flex are just simply not doing business in the whitebook market anymore. nothing more. the chassis is not going away as alienware will be supporting it for most of the year still from what im told
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
how much bigger then the 9262 will the new Sager be?
might have to wait for that -
or the new asus coming. are you referring to the 18.4" sager coming or the 17"?
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
the 17inch, i dont really like Asus
-
The specs leaked for the new D900f showed it had the same dimensions as the current D900c (aka: Sager np9262).
And the new ASUS W90 with the Crossfire 4870s will be friggen huge. It's even more massive than the Toshiba Qosmio G50 if you're looking for a reference you can go see at Best Buy. -
i think that asus (aside from color lol) will be a awesome machine though imo!!
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
people that were hoping for the 4870x2 will be gutted i think
i think i will go with the new Sager -
I think the W90 falls quite short of awesome. Without offering extreme CPUs, and DDR3 to go along with the built-in overclocking utility the 15,000 3DMarks actually sounds more like a finish line than a starting line. -
hmm i thought they would offer extreme cpu's. a few people have reported xotic has said they will offer it as a configurable model but i cant be sure on that of course. if so sounds like a nice machine..
i agree the new i7 sager will be prob the fastest thing out when it arrives given no one else has one by then yet -
The D900F will be a beast but it will be a big ugly beast. Personally if I was looking for desktop performance in a chassis that I'd dread lugging off my desk I'd go for a SFF desktop.
The main selling point of the Whitebook to me was it offered great performance in decent packaging. Who knows now though. If Im stuck going for something larger I'll probably check out the 18.4" Clevo with the SLI and HybridPower. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
does the 17inch Sager come with SLI?
-
ah thats a bummer, hopefully the arima will still be sold by other companies....
Yes, it has SLi 2xx series cards. -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
great thanx
looks like i will have to wait for that then
wellbecuase its not out for a while but
because its going to be great
-
The original leaked specs didn't specify SLi and also left the M that designates the GPU as mobile off the end of the model numbers for the cards.
Has there been any other evidence leaked that supports it will be SLi or is it all still speculation and assumption? -
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
Thats why i was asking i couldnt see anything that said that it had SLI
-
no word on it being sli, but if they open up the g280, then it wouldn't need to be sli since that chip is faster than any sli mobile rig by it's self.240 sp's. (speculation on if they leave it the same as the desktop variant)

-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Perhaps not perfect for 'extreme' overclockers, it will still be a bargain and AWESOME for gaming...... and perhaps the first to debut ATI's new HD 4870's -
-
And I was just about to place an order
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
yeah i was so close to being ready to make by order ;(
guess i will have to wait for the new Sager -
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
yeah thats the only thing that sucks
but i can wait -

Also, you might want to check out the new buzz in the "W90 price" thread.
ENJOY! -
imo if this was a 17" this would be my next personal notebook. at 18+" i dont think id be carrying this anywhere. but this think look nice. of course that is unless i can get the 4870's by themselves which of course ill for sure still be working one.. =)
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
the W90 does look nice but 18inch is a bi too big, could check out the 17inch model though
-
I guess it's time to look toward Cebit 2009 and Clevo's offerings if no one is going to offer the Arima/Flextronics whitebook with the 4870s
.
-
NGH, I guess, AW will be offering 4870x2 in M17.
-
-
Do you know something we don't? I have heard alot of speculation but nothing confirmned. -
NGH
I want the Whitebook too. It is just perfect in terms of performance and weight.
KegLeg73
Well, that's just what was said by other members. You're right, I guess, it's nothing more than a speculation. -
AW is confirmed they will have the the 4870. The question is, will they be the only ones to have it?
Also, will the 4870 from the new asus w90 work in the ocz whitebook? -
ASUS manufacturers their own rebrand of ATI cards so they can use whatever connection type they want. -
-
side note, the whitebook can support a 8800M GTX -
Hey guys I just wwent on the OCZ site and the white book no longer had the EOL next to it. Did i See it wrong?
-
dan kegleg you posted that every where
-
Well if it is true, then it is good news to alot of people. I like to spread happiness. Plus that gets more people looking and what not so we can find out for sure.
-
-
Usually they would say that they didn't known etc. But they said yes. It means they are pretty sure about it. I think it's a secure information.
If I buy it from them I'm sure I can upgrade it. If I can't upgrade it I'll ask for a refund. (I recorded the phone call just in case). I don't trust them. -
Did they say when?
-
forgot to ask :| stupid me :\
-
Yeah, I know, I was just on a breastfeeding site and he posted it there, too! C'mon Kegleg, you're out of control man... -
LOL gerry.Sorry.
-
i was surfing i saw it in gaming section AW section ocz section and i think off topic
lol jp...not really tho
