Hey, looking at upgrading to a new notebok and ive noticed averatec was very cheap. Do you think a averatec would be good for me? I mainly want it for watching video and dvd's and stuff like web surfing, e-mail, msn, downloading, and some typing. Id like it to have a good battery life also. Im looking at the AV3270.

Please consider ALL yor other options carefully. If you get a bad Averatec, you will have a very difficult time resolving your warranty issue.

RMA turnaround is 3 ot 4 weeks and often is just a HDD wipe and the unit is returned with the issues unresolved.

People who get good ones seem to be happy. The rest of us are in notebook hell.

The unit I bought on Sept 2 is on a FedEx truck now. Have not had one productive day with it.

Please exercise caution. Once they have your money the don't think about you much.

    Good luck with your purchase

    Susan

Fill out the FAQ in the hardware forum so we can help more. You are not very demanding so most smaller notebooks would fit your needs. Some good small notebooks would be the Fujitsu S series, ThinkPad x32 and Asus Z33ae to names a few, but they are probably more expensive than the Averatec. Good Luck.

Even if the customer service was okay, the battery life will probably not give you enough run time to view a dvd movie that is longer than 1.5 hours.
