    Hello,

In February this year I bought a Compal JHL90 notebook at a shop here in The Netherlands, sadly enough the shop went bankrupt in June. Now I have a problem with the system fan of the notebook :(

The system fan is making strange and loud noises, sort of peeping sounds. It still cools well (no change in temperatures), but I'm afraid the system fan will stop working soon. Because I have no warranty anymore (because the shop went bankrupt), I thought of replacing the system fan myself. I searched for a service manual and found one, changing the system fan doesn't look to difficult :)

My problem now is that I don't have a new system fan for the system. I did sent a e-mail to Compal and Marasst (a Compal repair point), but didn't get response from them. My question now is: does anybody here know where to find a system fan for the Compal JHL90?

I'm just a student and the laptop is new, I don't have the money to buy a new notebook

Was it sold in The Netherlands as Compal or other brand name which went bankrupt?

Compal itself is alive and kicking. A replacement part is available for sure, but the bad part is you may have to pay for it. Take a close look at your warranty. Is the bankrupt company the sole provider, or does it go straight to Compal?
