hi Blebleuh - sorry to hear of your troubles. You have an Overpowered OP-LP-based system, correct? If so, I'd uninstall all the sound / audio drivers (through the Windows 10 uninstaller), then run a registry cleaner, and BEFORE YOU REBOOT, then try installing those Lenovo audio drivers again.

I found this link that might be of help to you:

    https://www.howto-connect.com/fix-i...io-driver-failure-error-code-0001-windows-10/

    - try this link, also:

    https://www.dell.com/community/Opti...-installing-Realtek-audio-driver/td-p/6209304

Pls. let me know how it goes!

    - Trev

    Thanks for this.
    Tried the following:
    - Boot to safe mode
    - uninstall all current audio drivers/realtek stuff
    - registry clean using Glary Utility (messed up a few links between some extensions and the app they're supposed to be opened with)
    - run gga109ww.exe installer
    - installation successful !
    - reboot in normal mode, internet connection disabled to avoid windows auto-updating audio drivers

but the issue is still here... cracklings again.
And how do you manage to open the Realtek Audio Manager you took a screenshot of ? I cant find it anywhere.

You need to copy the provided EFI folder on the installation disk (as you obviously did) to properly install the OS, but you also need to copy that same folder in the EFI partition created next to the macOS boot partition on your computer. Do to that you can boot on Windows, attribute a letter to that EFI partition using the disk manager, then explore it and copy the folder using Explorer++ (you can find a more detailed guide here).

Also make sure that you have the following parameters in BIOS :
    - OS Support : UEFI OS
    - Wake on LAN : DIsabled (can avoid problems with sleep)
    - Secure Boot : Disabled (that may be already the case)
    - Launch CSM: Disabled
    - LAN Remote Boot: Disabled

If you're still stuck during boot, try the EFI folder posted before mine (mine is based on this one, I think the link is in one of my previous posts).

Then, if you want, I made a custom keyboard profile using Ukelele app. It's for AZERTY but you can easily do the same process for another layout.

If I'm upgrading from an i7 6700HQ GTX 1070 laptop, how much of an increase in performace should I see from the 2070 Max Q version? Or would I be better off going for the 17 inch?

I cant open my laptop now but from what I remember it might be one of these two connections:

Well it's not appearing on my computer, whether on the "simplified" windows 10 control panel or in the full old-school control panel. I can just access the regular sound control panel ( this one). How the hell can it be possible ?
I found an executable: C://Program files/Realtek/Audio/ADCTL.exe but nothing happen when I run it...

The cables that @Blebleuh point out are left Trackpad, right light strip. The large cable over the battery is the keyboard cable, if you see a cut or tear, it will cause some parts of the keyboard to go dark or not function. To open the clip, the dark gray tap can be pulled up with min. force, it should flip up and towards the battery side of the laptop, you can lift on the keyboard cable if there is some glue holding on to the battery.

Just a reminder that Sound Blaster 5 is a Window App and needs to be opened manual or set to open on Start up for it to work correctly (regardless it not too big of an improvement). If any of you want alternative to SB5/SBC, need a different enhancing solution, or want to stack enhancers, this should do just that https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/making-audio-enhancers-work-on-windows.244309/ The only real solution would be newer sound settings/drivers for the laptop which I heard some vendors are testing ATM.

If you're wondering if the 15" 240hz panel will work on the laptop, it will, it uses the same eDP 40 lane connector. http://www.panelook.com/LQ156M1JW03_Sharp_15.6_LCM_overview_37935.html
If any new displays come out, you can easily find them here: http://www.panelook.com/modelsearch...igh=1560&signal_type_category=70&st=E9&by=asc

Thanks for sharing this, I'll try it out.

Aside from it not solving your crackling issues, did you notice any type of improvement in sound?

I've tried many realtek audio drivers, and so far the one that seems to get me the most clean sound is v8405. Works well with Sound Blaster Connect.

I added an HP EX920 to my OP 15+ a while back but I'm having issues getting the laptop to give me PCIe x4 speeds. Both of my slots (top and bottom) keep topping out at 1,900mb/s. The drive works fine in any other pc, but not this one. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Eluktronics has released their version of GamingCenterU 1.0.0.17 https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PVB-v8WtGt_9bNB3x7wEpm1kCBa3X2-F/view?usp=sharing.
I'm testing it since a couple of days and works exactly as Mechrevo's one but at least it's factory STD with standard logos.
I'm still having the bugginess in the creation of multiple profiles for the keyboard but I've figured out how to set different profiles for battery and plugged in: just change settings while you are in the mode you want to change.
Thanks for answering, do you remember if the creation and use of multiple profiles was working on review units? Changing colors as you do in the video works perfectly for me too.

On my non-Eluktronics laptop GCU shows only the office and gaming mode with their respective settings and the fan button still activates the fan boost (as I prefer for my use).
If I remember correctly there was a bios version from a vendor that let you choose between changing power settings or activating fan boost. It was probably from Mechrevo.

Wow sorry for the mistake, and thanks for correcting it. I was pretty sure to remember that the keyboard backlight had a dedicated flat cable independant to the bulky keyboard cable, but that must be a wrong memory...

About SoundBlaster: I never used it or intend to use it, and never installed it. I expect as few steps as possible between software audio and hardware audio outputs, in order to minimize DPC latency and hear audio material as close to the source as possible. If it sounds like crap I need to hear it as crap. Don't want any bass/stereo/3D enhancer.
By the way I'm facing the point how crazy it is how latency and audio in general is better handled in macOS compared to Windows, even on a non Apple device with non natively macOS supported audio chip.

Did not notice any improvement in sound as cracklings are such a pain that it's hard to make any comparison with them.
Will give a try to v8405 (but I think I already did as it seems to be the version provided by PCSpecialist - the only clue I have is a folder called CodecExtOem_RTK_8405 in the provided zip).
I already tried v8428, 8573 and R282, but the problem remains the same.
Need to find some motivation to make a full Windows re-install I guess...

So if you cleaned up the pins and put it back in, will it work? You could give it a little extra push to get the contacts to touch deeper into the pins, other wise ask your vendor for a keyboard cable. Your vendor might have a better step by step way to trouble shoot since it can be also be a BIOS+EC problem, software problem, etc. Someways the backlight does not work is that maybe in the BIOS it's set to be dark black or the brightness is some how forced to off. I will say it's pretty common for the keyboard cable to have issues ATM.

Thank you i will ask the vendor.
I have tried everything and I do not think this is a software problem, the backlight is activated in the bios.
In addition, the keyboard customization software crash when I access it and try to go on keyboard configuration.

Does anyone recommend a good laptop cooling pad for this chassis? I have been playing Assassin's Creed lately and my temperatures go up to 97 degrees Celsius! It's a bit warm here in NYC but I expect the temperatures to only get worse as summer approaches... I guess I could attempt to repaste but will it make that big of a difference?

Does anyone know how to make the fans run at 10 or 20%? In the advanced settings it only goes down to 30% but sometimes the fans hover lower than that before going to 30&. The laptop gets hot if I keep the fans off and with the fans at 30% it hovers around the 45 degrees mark so they turn on and off all the time.

Could some kind soul please post the PDF of the full user manual for the Overpowered 15" models that used to be at this link:
    https://www.opowered.com/pdf/OVERPOWERED_OP-LP1_&_OP-LP2_Manual.pdf

In their infinite wisdom, Overpowered seems to have removed it from their support site and I could not locate it anywhere in this thread either.

Regarding my crackling sound problem, I ended up re-installing Windows using the recovery tool. Went the weak way that does not format your OS disk but only erases OS files and applications and keep some spare preference and personal data.
Easy process, and now the sound is back to normal ! Dont even have to install any driver, as they've been automatically managed by Windows update. Everything is working and I feel better now, after having spent about 4 hours downloading and re-installing all of my softwares and configure them as I want.

This sound problem is still a mystery to me, as I tried many times to uninstall all audio-related driver, and let Windows find the correct drivers OR force installation of specific versions (many tries with versions), but the problem was still here. I guess it was related to something deeper into Windows install than just soundcard drivers. Well, now, problem solved.

hey guys, I'm using realtek hd audio version 6.0.1.8459. Both Headphones and Speakers work however they are not showing up seperately under playback devices(only speakers under playback devices). Thus i cant use seperate settings for them. I also can't play audio from speakers while headphones are still connected due to this problem. When using microsoft hd audio instead of realtek, it detects both of them. I need to use realtek drivers for 2 reasons; subwoofer which ms audio drivers doesn't detect/utilize and soundblaster cinema 5 which also doesn't work with ms audio drivers. I use sb5 to increase speaker volume.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Edit: I am using Windows 10pro 1809. I tried realtek 6.0.1.8459 and 6.0.1.8428

Hey guys I've been looking at the eluktronics version of this chassis and was wondering what the consensus is on that on here, I accidentally posted my comment on the thread for the 17in version of this chassis yesterday but going through that thread made me feel a lot more comfortable about that laptop compared to this one where a lot of people seem to be having issues. But most of those people seem to be on the Walmart version of this chassis, so I was wondering if those issues are restricted that model only and not the eluktronics version. O was gonna get the liquid metal and mastergel thermal paste upgrades from them too and was wondering if that helps with the thermals? Does the eluktronics version also have the issue with heat sink contacts that I've read a few people complain about on here?

I'm leaning towards the 17in version right now mostly due to the much more positive opinion of that on their thread compared to this one, but not sure if I wanna sacrifice the portability and battery life if the 15 in model isn't as bad as it seems from so many complains on here. Just hoping that most of these issues are specific to the Walmart version

The barbones and heatsinks are all the same (motherboard could be slightly different if tou have to believe eluktronics).
So a warped heatsink can always occur. I can imagine if you buy at eluktronics that they test the barbone before shipment and maybe correct the heatsink. Walmart will only accept and forward the barbone as is.

    Hey everyone,

I have op 15" from Walmart (October 2018 manufacturing date) since late December, just did a re paste (IC diamond) and dual channel ram upgrade (Kingston impact) today.

From what I understand when you're running dual channel ram, CPU and GPU temperature are expected to go up from single channel temps. Before the re paste and ram upgrade I was starting to hit upper 80s to 92c across all cores, prompting a re paste. After repaste and dual channel I'm currently seeing temps fluctuating upper 70s and low-mid 80s and spikes to upper 80s (no cores hit 90c+) testing on aida, ambient air temperature 77-78f.

Should temps be better or more stable? I feel I may have tighten the heatsink down too far? Is that a thing?

Also while running aida64 I noticed the screen froze 2-3 times per 12-15 min runs. Not sure how concerning that should be, haven't had any freezing prior to today.

    Thanks for any advice

edit: so while playing pubg for about an hour- gpu was steady 68-70c. cpu 70-74c, max temp across all cores 82-84c- 85c on one core. Better then before the paste i guess. The fps bump is def appreciated.

IT sounds OK. for your temps. Also peak in the mid 80's is normal given the turboclock of CPU and 3 degrees difference between cores is excellent.

    Hi everyone,

    I had the TongFang GK5CP0Z by PCSpecialist (RECOIL II), i78750H + RTX2060.

PCSpecialist gave me some BIOS versions (with EC update):
    v1.02
    v1.51
    v1.53

(If anyone is interested I can share the mega link.)

Although I had confirmation by PCS and Tongfang assistance that the update is correct and has been tested, I was unable to update my laptop due to this bios utility error:
Error: cannot update BIOS with different platform name !!
d - Error: BIOS Report Error.

Has anyone ever had the same problem with bios update?

Definitely interested by these new BIOS and EC. Can we have the mega link ?
Versioning seems weird however, as the last BIOS from PCS we have so far is v1.04. So I wonder how are these "new" v1.02, 1.51 and 1.53. Curious about the EC version as well (we had EC v1.25 with the 1.02 BIOS on the GTX1060 version).

What version of Gaming Center do you have ?
Did you try the Rev.Center by @lKinder_Bueno ? It's an alternative to Tongfang's Gaming Center developed by a member of the community. You should give it a try !

Those temps seems right to me as well !

When I ask to PCS for bios update (april 2019), they gave me the 1.51. But during the period of email exchange with assistance due to installation problem, version 1.53 has been released.
I asked PCS for the older 1.02 version because I have the 1.01 and I tried to do a gradual update, but it didn't work.
Instead, the EC update works well.

These bios working only for the Tongfang GK5CP0Z (but in my case the bios utility doesn't let me install them!):

From my understanding, these BIOS should work with similar models (such as GK5CN6Z, GK5CN5Z, GK5CQ7Z...) but NOT the EC, as they are very hardware specific . I will try to give these new bios a try later.

I haven't been having any issues with my OP 15", so I haven't given much thought to updating the BIOS or EC. Keep in mind it's the 8300H + 1050 so I'm not shooting for top performance or anything... is there any compelling reasons to upgrade at this point? It's been a good 6mos so thought I might check in.

I initially came back looking for links to the battery, but at $80+, that eats well into what I paid for the entire laptop! I might just get a 3rd charger instead :)

    Hi Good Day!

Can anyone help me regarding the RGB lighting of my keyboard not turning on? I tried System Restore, Reformatting the laptop and trying different version of OP Control Center but the RGB lighting still doesn't turn on. In the OP Control Center the RGB lighting is switched to on but the color picker or color pattern options are no where to be seen. Any Help is appreciated.

I had my lightbar go out after a BIOS upgrade.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...-gk7cp0s-gk7cp7s.825461/page-88#post-10902369

I was able to restore my lightbar! What I did was:
1 - After losing lightbar after upgrading to 1.08 BIOS, I uninstalled the OP Gaming Center.
2 - I installed the custom RevCenter from page 336 on the other thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/tongfang-gk5cn5z-gk5cn6z-gk5cq7z-gk5cp0z.815943/page-336
3 - In that program there is a brightness setting for the lightbar. I boosted that up from 0 and the lightbar came on.
4 - Then I uninstalled RevCenter (since it disables ThrottleStop and I have mine tuned and working well with TS)
    5 - Reinstalled Gaming Center 1.2.2.8

I now have the turbo boost fan working the way I like and the lightbar back to the blue color that works for me.

FYI - I decided just to roll with Rev Center only and not put the OP Gaming Center back on. So you can skip Steps 4 and 5 if you like.

    Good Day!

Tried doing Option 1 Keyboard lighting still didn't work.
Then tried you method. LED bar works but keyboard lighting still doesn't work.
I'm Thinking it may be a hardware problem due to consistent high heat (90c-96c) i was having when I playing apex. Is the rgb controller on the keyboard or soldered to the main board of the laptop? I would like to try to buy a replacement keyboard if the controller is on the keyboard.

Hi guys, does any of you order a larger 4-cell battery recently? Everywhere seems to be out of stock. I'm in UK by the way.

For some reason, TongFang decided not to produce them any more. It's hopeless. I contacted a reseller in China, they say future production run COULD be cancelled. Have you tried XMG in German?

Thanks, this is the usual Getac front end page, they also have ones in the US, EU, SG and many other country. But the back end is still the same vendor who sell battery across the world. I already contacted them muliple times, they don't have it in stock and don't know when manufacturer will start the next production run.

Have you tried to contact them? It's worth a shot, I am just worried that they will charge huge premium for the battery

    LINUX RGB KEYBOARD BACKLIGHT SUPPORT
Everybody rejoyce - there is a new project to bring Linux RGB keyboard backlight support to your Tongfang GK5CN5Z / GK5CN6Z / GK5CQ7Z / GK5CP0Z laptop.

You can find the source as well as instructions here:
    https://github.com/rodgomesc/avell-unofficial-control-center

At the time of writing, individual keys cannot yet be configured, but you can choose between the standard styles also selectable in the EFI/BIOS menu (rainbow, aurora, reactive, raindrop, marquee), or pick a single color or two colors alternating (striping) in rows or columns.
Control of individual key colors is planned, as well as a GUI. In the end, this could even be used to play animations on the keyboard etc. (Technically possible but someone must implement it.)

♥️ If you like it, please contribute and/or donate! ☕️

    @ sicily428
If you could please add information about the new linux rgb support to the initial post of this thread. Thanks!

Anyone here still using the stock ssd as their boot drive? Cant find any info on how reliable it is - I'm starting to use this laptop more and want to boot it off a good nvme in the 2nd slot. Simple as installing, cloning, then changing boot option in bios?

Looking for a bigger battery as well and everywhere seems sold out.
I did find this site, in which you can get to checkout: http://www.batteriess.de/getac-gk5cn00134s1p0-152v-6232wh-laptop-akku-batterien-p-28645.html
Have a feeling they have not updated their inventory and it's all in German.

Someone on this thread has some difficulties booting up after he cloned the drive to the second slot. I don't recall what his solution was or if it was solved.

    Hello,

I bought the GK5CN6Z (i7-8750H, 1060) from Walmart last December and ran into an issue with the keyboard recently. It started off where the keyboard lights would turn off and the keys wouldnt register, also this would cause windows to think all the keys are pressed (bringing up discord/steam overlays). This would last a few minutes then the keyboard would reset itself and it would be functioning as normal. This problem occurred for a day or so until one time when the keyboard didn't reset itself and is now dead. I tried uninstalling all the keyboard drivers in the device manager (this requires a restart), flashing new BIOS, and downloading new control centers. All of these didn't work.

Other this I was thinking of trying: Opening it up and cheacking out the keyboard connection, restore windows, try a different BIOS/EC

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
