How am I supposed to know what PSU my laptop is supposed to have? Laptop is in signature. Is there a way to find out?seahawk10 said: ↑What power adapter are you using? I had this happen with my OP 17+ and I was using an old power adapter at home that was only 120W. The one that came with the laptop was (150W or 180W, I can't remember) but I always left that at work so I wouldn't have to lug it back and forth.
I brought the correct adapter home to test and no more issues with a sudden power off. Then I purchased the correct AC adapter as my 2nd adapter with the right wattage. Problem solved.
I hope that helps.Click to expand...
Also, the laptop should NOT just *shut off* completely, it should just throttle back if it can't supply enough power. My machine came with a 180w brick, and I know for a fact that the laptop doesn't draw 180w with just an 8750h and a 1060. There's no way. -

I had a problem where it would cut off completely while on battery power randomly. It turned out I had used someone else throttlestop settings and it was causing the laptop to pull more power than the battery could supply. I went back to the post #2627 settings and it has been working fine ever since.imglidinhere said: ↑How am I supposed to know what PSU my laptop is supposed to have? Laptop is in signature. Question: I applied this power adapter fix
"OEMsev : "A tool to flash your system when changing adapter and other components."
Found on this forum by @steberg LINK TO FILE(for GK5CN5Z and GK5CN6Z"
And immediately my boot times increased from like 20 secs to more than a 60.
It doesn't make sense why, any ideas?
Overpowered 15+. -
For an OP 15 I would think if you have a 180W brick you are fine. I should note, that my laptop (OP 17+) worked ok doing normal stuff. It was just when I went to play a game (even a simple game like CS:GO) that it would try to draw more power to the GPU and would shut down / immediately power off. It did not throttle back like it was supposed to.imglidinhere said: ↑How am I supposed to know what PSU my laptop is supposed to have? Laptop is in signature. Is there a way to find out?

Hey Guys,
Trying to optimize TS settings and needed to confirm if im understanding how things work. Using the general settings found in here that ive tried experimenting off of.
First off, cant seem to get passed 3893mhz except for spikes-- does that still count as "3.9mhz"?
When running a CB15 test all cores fluctuate between 3888-3893mhz pl 68-70w the entire test, scores from 1220-1293. Then when doing TS bench on 1024m it will fluctuate between 3880-3893mhz and pl 68-72w until around 70% completion when it drops to 3380-3410mhz pl 50-55.
That would be unstable correct? If so, I would want to lower values till it holds firm? -

No, that's the turbo boost running out essentially. Those are on a timer, usually about 56 seconds as default, and after that they drop power draw to 55w as you saw. So no, it's not unstable. -

I seem to have a minor issue with annoys me. My Skikk 15GK7Z does not wake-up from standby. Anybody here has experience with this and perhaps found a solution?
Ever found a working solution?Plokko said: ↑Hi, i have a PCS Recoil 2 (gk5cn6z) and i'm having problems with standby:
the pc won't go on standby but only turn off the laptop's LCD, this happen if i close the lcd lid or manually set it in standby mode (i did try all power configurations and checked thoroughly any windows setting that may preventing it from going to standby).
I tried to update Gaming centre ( 1.2.2.8) and BIOS 1.16 - EC 1.33.09 - Mechrevo but it did not solve the issue at all.
After some some digging i found a command to debug the problem:
by running
in administrative cmd the report showed that the device "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A36D" aka "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller" was preventing the pc from entering standby.Code:$powercfg/energy duration 120
I tried uninstalling Gaming centre and re-installing the USB driver (they're only available throught Microsoft) and it did somehow fix the problem but i found out the keyboard stays lit even on standby (this is unaccaptable, it will drain the battery on standby!).
Anyone having my same problem?
PS: The standby feature is a must for me, i do use it all the time when i traven from and to the work without closing all my programs.Click to expand...

Thanks for sharing this info here as well.nimaim said: ↑Following up to this (hopefully we can get this in the OP @sicily428 @Blebleuh), Lost_N_BIOS over at win-raid has been kind enough to put together a guide for us from the results of my testing as well as @pcfr33k's. It is ready to go, but modding the BIOS requires some minor effort. Only do it if you feel comfortable and have a programmer to start playing with stuff as it's very easy to screw up something. See https://www.win-raid.com/t4287f16-G...H-A-SPI-Programmer-Flasher-With-Pictures.html for how to use a very cheap $5-$10 programmer. You can use the same programmer to fully back up the EC.
Guide is here: https://www.win-raid.com/t4386f16-O...vo-MACHENIKE-Unlocked-BIOS-Guide-W-Files.html
Discussion here: https://www.win-raid.com/t4232f16-S...ns-of-rebranded-TONGFANG-chassis-systems.html
* Do NOT share any files as the FPT dump will be specific to your system. If you need any assistance, please post it @ win-raid so we don't flood this topic with hundreds of BIOS related questions.
* Please also sign up there and/or give him your thanks, he's been working with us for about 6 weeks now to figure this all out, and continues to support us and all these TONGFANG variants. They have a great community over there.
* I'm guessing a lot of people will be interested in iGFX and dGFX in the SG (switchable graphics) menu. I've done a lot of testing with this. You *can* fully disable the dGFX in the BIOS by forcing iGFX ON and turning OFF PEG (PCI express graphics) scanning and forcing it to ActiveLow. The downside of this is lower performance (basically no gaming) and inability to use any of the video out ports (e.g. HDMI). On the flipside, you will get much better battery life and don't have to worry about screen tearing and suspend/resume freezing especially in Linux.
You *cannot* fully disable the iGFX, however, and trying to do so will result in a blank screen at power up. It seems the way Optimus works is by defaulting to iGFX at bootup and switching to dGFX/iGFX in the OS. The only thing you can do here is force the NVIDIA card to ActiveHigh all the time (and hope it never switches back to iGFX), but this will obviously result in a more power hungry set up, and doesn't do anything to prevent the iGFX from kicking back on, especially when idle.Click to expand...
