I want to change the hard drive in an mpc (Micron) TransPort T1000. There's a screw on the bottom labeled HDD but there's no cover or slide out tray for the drive.

I'm also interested in swapping in the fastest P4 it'll support, if I can get one real cheap. Only paid $15 for the laptop, got a pair of DDR1 512M sticks for $20 and had to buy a charger for $13 off that auction website.

Still under $50 for a laptop that appears to have seen very little use. No paint wear on the trackpad buttons or anywhere else on that surface, all the labels on the bottom look line new. Not a speck of dirt on it. I'm willing to toss a little more $ at it for a bigger, higher RPM drive and a faster CPU if I can keep it to $100 or less. Might put Linux on it.
