Vostro is an all black version of Inspiron. Same design, same specs, but its completely matte black, to be offered on the business side of the Dell store.
The T61 is a more business oriented laptop with a workstation graphics card; the V2s is also a more business oriented laptop with higher quality materials and a much higher price. The F8 has no confirmed specs and will likely have a much better graphics card and higher price. Which is why I didn't include them.

anyway, is it the 8400 G/GS(I know its not the GT)?
As long as I can play WOW and Starcraft II, I think I'll be happy.
I'm still very excited.. going to get an ID bag from Tom Bihn(or maybe a Brain Bag if i decide to go with a backpack). I only wish I could get it sooner in July so I could have it available for a job I'm doing out of town. Oh well, I'll borrow my bro's or dad's notebook I guess. -
I think it will be the 8400M GS. That one is confirmed for the Zepto IFT00.
Donald said it will most likely be the config Powernotebooks will be selling too.
I think there are only 2 configurations for GPU. 8400M GS or Intel X3100 and no 8400M G. -
Any ideas on what this would be like with a T7500 CPU? Would heat be a problem on such specification?
-
Zepto worldwide lists 2 models at 14", the 6224 and 6324, and both are listed with the 8600gt. Are these the IFT00 models? -
The 6224 is an Invetec model, not a Compal. The 3414W is the IFT00.

Anyway, I hope the slower GPU just means it will have that much more battery life.
Will a hybrid hard drive be a customization option for the IFT00 at Powernotebooks/Xoticpc? That means a bit more battery life, no? -
Will IFT00 be available for pre-order shortly?
-

Yes it will be up shortly, but for now we are still trying to sort out which resolution we will be bringing in so we want to wait to put it up until we are sure.
They hybrid drives claim less power usage, but I wouldn't count on it saving enough battery life to really be noticeable. We are still waiting for them to become available so we can test them. -
Seriously, do it. Please? I'll totally buy one.
Oh, by the way.. is it known whether it will be matte or glossy? Personally, I'd prefer matte, but it's not a deciding factor (though the WXGA may be, in this case). -
I just hope I can get it decked out at ~$1500
I would probably still take the IFT00 over a Inspiron/Vostro 1420 or dv2500t for the same price, although at that point I'd consider spending the extra premium for a m1330 =/
Not having a hybrid HD is no biggie. The only thing that could elate me at this point would be an 8400 GT or a hotswappable bay(extra battery), both of which I'm fairly sure aren't coming -

Sure, I would be happy to help you
-
So, where is it?
-
..maybe not. You'll have to keep waiting, just like me. -

Too bad there's no 8600M GT option. This would have saved me the trouble of importing a Zepto (plus, the IFT00 looks better even though it's thicker).
-
Hi Patrick,
Noticed you debated on buying either a Compal IFT00 (which you bought), M1330, E1420 or DV2500T. Could you tell me what made you buy the IFT00? Have a look at my thread please, I can't make up my mind.. -
I am glad I got my Dell 1420 order in. If Compal would have gotten the 8600GS, I would have considered it, but now with the 8400GS, its on par with the Dell. Donald I would recomend the WXGA+ as Dell is offering it. Offering the user to choose would be best overall, but I think the WXGA+ will be more popular.

Did anyone check out these pics of an FT00? Is it just me or it a bit ugly in those?
-
well, the IFT looks nicer than the VBI FT. But it's still not that bad
the white version is I guess a little bit worse than the dark one.
-
Any new information on this notebook? Release date, or a confirmed GPU?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
GPU has always been the 8400M GS w/256MB, but there is no update on the release date.
-
Will clearance-priced HGL30's be around once the IFT00 starts selling?

Hi, my first post where, but watching this forum for some time now, this is where I discovered Compal laptops and Intel VBI.
I am writing this because I just bought an IFT00 VBI (white), specs are Intel T7300(2Ghz), 2Gb memory, 120Gb disk.
I have installed Vista just for checking some specs, this is a laptop with Vista in mind... but now I'am running Linux Ubuntu 6.10, and managed to have all hardware working, which is great.)))
Intel specs for Portugal referred that the IFT00 will come with a screen resolution of 1440x900, unfortunately they delivered only 1280x800. Also the finger print reader is missing. Vendor said that Intel is having problems with those 1440x900 screens and the finger print reader, could someone confirm this?
Overall I like the laptop, white color requires some time to get used to, is somewhat similar with the apple laptop... -
where did you buy it?
-
In Portugal, do you want to know the store?
-
yes, if you don't mind
-
I have sent you a private message, with two places where to buy Compal notebooks.
-
Are there any updates on release dates? Any word from Xoticpc or Powernotebooks?
-
Any news on the IFT00? Everyone is paying attention to the IFL90.
-
-
Rizeon in the UK is selling FL90s with 8600 GTs.

Sorry guys, I was responding to the post about the IFT00, I mistyped.
-
I'm planning on buying a 14.1" laptop (1200€ tops) and this IFT00 is the most desirable. I had a bad experience with Acer and I was wondering if Compal is a good brand, enough to choose this laptop, instead of a hp or vaio (with lower specs).
-
go for it! I mean that, for me it's awesome.
