I recently upgraded from a Dell 4150 notebook to the venerable Portable One MX (2.13 MhZ 2Gigs of RAM.)

I'm relishing all its features (there's so many to name) as well as its robust build. It exudes quality. The keys are delighfully firm and precise. The screen is brilliant. I haven't noticed any reflectivity issues as one noted in a previous thread. Its sleek and slim. I can exhaust all superlatives in speaking of it.

Now, how did I ever chance on such a product? The company was unknown to me. Initially I considered an Inspiron as a logical upgrade from my 'old' Dell. I read many reviews and opinions from owners of various makes of laptops and was drawn to a Portable One owner's incisive comparison of an Inspiron D610 to his own (previous generation) MX. I perused P1's website ,and, my decision was made clear. The new MX seemed even more attractive to me than its predesessor and more powerful. Ivan answered all my questions promptly.

The MX seldom gets warm with prolonged use on battery power, however, the heat does increase (on the bottom) without being uncomfortatble when on AC power. The fan does work quietly albeit often. I find lowering the power setting to high from super decreases heat and so reduces the fan's slight obtrusiveness.

Lastly, it's a marel of design. It's simply beautiful.
