I'm posting here as only about 4 people every day visit the Other Manufactorers Subforum anyway.
I am really considering buying this from Killernotebooks (Nagamaki).
Imagine Mobile Quad, 1333 fsb DDR3 RAM, Dual HDD in RAID 0, Backlit Keyboard with three colours, Dual 3870s in crossfire (great news after the nvidia issue), all in a 1.67 in thick pakage. Just for reference, the np5796 is about 1.8in thick
Resellers offering the Whitebook (under different names) are
Dark Smiley Systems
Killernotebooks
RK COmputers
CyberPowerPC
and others (will update)
KillerNotebooks are the most expensive, but im getting it from them for the option for 6GB DDR3 RAM, A Heatsink mod done by Mark and the turbo boost button.
THis thread is here to tell all those considering the Sager np5796 or even np9262, think about the Whitebook. I really cant name one factor where the Sager can beat the OCZ (except price, but only a little bit cheaper)
In fact, lets do a little comparison.
CPU:
OCZ Whitebook: Up to Q9100 (Quad Core)
Sager np5796: Up to X9100 (Dual Core)
GPU:
OCZ Whitebook: Up to Dual 3870s (believed to get around 13000+ on 3dmark06)
Sager np5796: Up to 9800GTX (around 10000 to 10500 3dmarks)
HDD:
OCZ Whitebook: Up to Dual OCZ Core II 120Gb SSDs in RAID or dual 320GB 7200rpm in RAID
Sager np5796: Up to one 500GB 5400rpm HD
Weight:
OCZ Whitebook: 4KG (not exact, cant find right one)
Sager np5796: 8.36lbs
RAM:
OCZ Whitebook: Up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM
Sager np5796: Up to 4GB of DDR3 RAm
Hope you can see my point![]()
On unrelated news, how the hell did Man City sign Robinho? Chelsea had him for sure...
-
man,i know you are exited, but your thread looks childish.how old are you btw?
-
nah, just really excited. really really.
i did not know that the word *beep* would be censored.
there i fixed it up a bit. happy?
And for my age, i can be whatever i want on the internets -
better
also,i guess 15-16?
-
spot on
i was a bit too excited now that i look at it again...
must have been that odd tasting beef -
you know, notebooks "good"-nes is not only its components,it must have good built quality, screen, temps, sound, etc. ...but!!!!if the reviews(well, mostly,Chaz's review)turns out to be positive and 3870 has 10000 marks, then it is my next notebook!!!
-
I agree with the stig, this notebook looks absolutely great on paper, we will soon see if it holds up in the real world (really hoping it does, as I may need a new tax deductible soon...
)

We're comparing a laptop that isn't even out yet, to a laptop that has proven itself. Need I say more?
-
That thing had better have a God-Tier cooling solution.

Also, the M570TU is 8.81lbs with the power supply vs 9.5lbs (4.3kg) for the OCZ. It is unknown if that weight includes the power supply. The Clevo web site for the M570TU states 4GB as max ram but some resellers (K│N) report the max as 8GB, I would tend to believe the manufacturer on this point.
This comparison has been done before and the advantages of one over the other are notable but mere technical specs are not the only thing to consider when buying a $2k notebook. When I bought my $2k HP DV9500 it had impressive specs, on paper, but after a few weeks of use, I was no longer impressed. It (the Pavilion series) remains the best looking notebook, IMHO, and build quality is average but they lack above avg performance.
I for one could careless about the Q9100 since I will be putting in the X9100 this week. I have no love for ATI, back when I had their All in Wonder for my desktop and needed Tech Support, calling Canada was not what I wanted to do (They may have since added an 800 # or a US based number but since I never bought an ATI product after that, I wouldn't know). So the ATI video card(s) would never be an option for me unless it SMOKED the nVidia card.
I didn't use RAID whith my 901C, I don't use it on my desktop and if my DV9500 could RAID, I'd probably not bother there either. I prefer the storage capacity over speed gains and with Acronis, I don't have data loss issues.
That said, the OCZ isn't the best or for everyone just as the Clevo isn't for you.
On a side note, once I have the X9100, I expect to have 3DMark06 scores above 10k not that it matters much. -
-
im hoping the whitebook will have good build quality...
Im sorta embarrased that i 'swore' in the thread title. Kdawgca will be all over me in no time -
Nice!
Can’t change what I have now, but it gives hope for the future of notebooks. -

Just to correct the OP, the whitebook offers up to the QX9300
And qaz33, you know better. Leave the nice people in the Sager/Clevo forum alone. Our thread in other manufacturers has like 13 pages anyway. -
Why would the OCZ notebook need a heat sink mod, apparently since it kicks a previous notebook's butt before it's even out? -
That is about as childish as the thread title itself. -
-
-
-
Why is this even in the Sager clevo thread?
-
-
Come on guys, let's show other "groups" we can handle having our feathers ruffled a bit, that way when it comes time to return the favour--(I'm sure Clevo has new stuff in the works right now)--they can't complain.
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
im just wondering, but dont know for fact, is killernotebooks only offering the modded heatsink because its offering a quad core cpu and the 9800M GTX? i thought that these wernt confirmed by ocz, and this might be why their offering the upgrade.
so if this is true, would dark smiley need to upgrade/ mod the heatsink if its too much powerful in this package.
(i dont know if the quad core is confirmed by ocz but i think that the 9800M GTX isint yet) -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Quad core support has been tested and confirmed. Unless it starts to burn me, I won't be altering the heatsinks because it would probably void OCZ's warranty.
And I can't find anywhere that Killernotebooks is offering a modded heatsink, either.
I also don't know why this is in the Sager/Clevo forum. -
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
o alright, good to know.
and i also dont know where they offer the modded heatsink, but some people are saying they are, so i put 2 and 2 (modded heatsink and 9800M GTX) together and just came to this conclusion. also, who ever found where it says that they are offering a modded heatsink, do you know if it voids the warrenty/ why their doing it? -

Marks heatsink mods will definetly drop the temps on a system like this and I am sure he will have one available on his model in the near future. -
If the ATi's don't generate more heat than the 7950GTX's, and the Quad doesn't generate huge amounts more heat than the Merom C2D's there shouldn't be any heat issues -
Well, in response to the first post of this thread, you'll have to give the 5796 some credit, though I would prefer the OCZ. For instance, considering that both notebooks use the PM45 chipset, both should support up to 8 gigs of memory. It's just a matter of manufacturers producing 4gb DDR3 sodimm sticks. Also, both models can support any HD (whether it's an SSD or HD) and is only limited to the best the manufacturers can offer (so it's not like the NP5796 is not compatible with SSDs).
-
killernotebooks do a modded heatsink for all of their products, not only the whitebook.
And as for why i posted in the sager forum, read THE FIRST SENTENCE... -
-
Edit: DarkSmileySystems list the memory as 1033 :| -
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Where does it say 1033 on my site? Or did you mean 1066?
-
Oups.. I mean 1066 :x
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
It's okay
-
Shane, you gotta start offering Robson 2, buddy. Applications load up a whole lot faster with 4GB.
