I have just flashed my BIOS from 112A to 115A successfully, this was a learning process for me. Although there are a lot of tutorials in the compal Forum, i felt that none describe the process in enough detail. So here is my attempt at it.

First you have to download your BIOS from Bizcom, or directly from compal website. Currently, BIOS 115A is the most recent BIOS for HGL30.

Second go to HP website and download the HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL

Third, click this link and download this "bootdisk" folder. Thanks to Brianj for pointing this out.

Unzip all folders to you desktop.

1- Get an empty USB drive. Make sure that any important files on this USB are backed up because you have to format this drive and hence lose all info previously saved on it. Later, after you finish flashing your bios you can resume using your USB drive normally.

2- Insert the USB in the USB hub. You will need to keep the USB in your computer all the time during the process.

3- Double click the HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL to install the program. After it gets installed it will leave a shortcut on your desktop.

4- Then right click this shortcut and click "Run as an administrator".

5- When you run the HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL you have to chose a couple of things. Under "Device" chose your USB drive. Under "File System" chose "FAT" or "FAT32". Select "Create a DOS Startup disk". Then select "using DOS system files located at:" and hit the button on the right to browse to the "bootdisk" folder you downloaded earlier. Select this folder and hit "start".

6- The HP USB DISK STORAGE FORMAT TOOL will format your USB drive, after it finishes hit "close". This might take a couple of minutes.

7- Now open your BIOS folder, drag and drop ALL files onto the USB drive.

8- Restart your computer hitting "F2" continuously as it boots up , you will be presented with the BIOS screen, type in your password if you have one set, otherwise you will be automatically logged in to the BIOS.

In the BIOS you will find the following menus:

"Main" "Advanced" "Security" TPM State" "Boot" "Exit"

9- Use the "right" arrow key on your keyboard to go to the "Advanced" menu.

10- Hit "down" arrow key to highlight the "Execute Disable Bit Capability".

11- Hit the "Enter" key, you will be presented with a small window, highlight "Enabled" and then hit the "Enter" key again.

12- Now use the "Right" arrow key again to go to the "Boot" menu.

13- Hit "down" arrow key to highlight "HDD USB2.0 USB Flash Disk"

14- Keep hitting "F6" till you see "HDD USB2.0 USB Flash Disk" at the top of the list.

15- Hit "F10".You will be asked if you would like to "Save configuration and exit now"? Make sure "yes" is highlighted and hit "Enter".

16- Your computer will restart and this time will boot from your USB drive. You will be presented with a DOS screen.

17- Type the name of the "Batch" file (also known as .bat) that came as a part of the BIOS files and then hit "Enter", in the case of the HGL30 "BIOS115A" it's name is "jgl". So type "jgl" and hit "Enter", and voila your notebook will take it from there, it will flash the BIOS beeping continously and then it will suddenly turn off. According to the type of notebook you have, your computer will boot and reboot more than once, so you should be patient.

18- After the notebook turns off, simply turn it on and enter the bios as explained above (by hitting "F2" as the computer starts).
Go to the "Boot" menu and find the "HDD" which is your hard disk, NOT the "HDD USB2.0 USB Flash Disk". Use the arrow keys to
highlight the "HDD" and keep hitting "F6" till the "HDD" is at the top of the list.

19- Hit "F10".You will be asked if you would like to "Save configuration and exit now"? Make sure "yes" is highlighted and hit "Enter".

20- Your computer will now reboot, congratulations you have finished flashing your new BIOS!!!

That's weird, i tested it and it was working when i wrote this guide, now it isn't. Anyway thanks for the new link. How do you find the guide? Is it helpful for let's say somebody who is trying to flash the bios for the first time?
