It seems that the Zepto Nox might get into circulation on or about 10th July.
Discussion up to now has been in the New Zepto Models thread, (photos are here) but I'm starting this thread so we can keep the discussion about the Nox in one place.

Its good to see Zepto has left Inventec as a supplier.
For those interested here is a trailer the Zepto team put together.
If anyone could tell me what is the music being used I'd be grateful, its gonna do wonders in my workout mix. -
@ John: What do you think of this Dutch Zepto Nox topic: http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1299992//
I can translate it in English so I can post it on NBR...
I think it's much better than your TopicStart (A) -

I can understand some of that site, for example "built-to-order concept"!
I suggest you add here the information, particularly the specifications, that isn't on the Zepto UK website at the moment but we don't need to repeat the advertising of the features unless there is something you particularly want to comment on. You have already posted photos here so we don't need them repeated in this thread (I like to keep things concise).

Hi,
does this new Zepto Nox A15 have TI Texas Instruments firewire chipset?
regards S-EH -
What are the prices for the TOP-model of the Nox in other countries?
Here in the Netherlands you will pay 2295 euro for:
[*]Intel® Core 2 Duo T9600 2,86 Ghz FSB=1066 Mhz met 6MB cache
[*] 8192 MB DDR2-800MHz RAM
[*] 320 GB SATA - 7200 RPM HDD
[*]NVIDIA Geforce 9600M GT met 512Mb DDR3
[*]ZEPTO Zpro N-Standard
[*]6 cells Li-Ion battery
And I've heard something about new 15,4 inchers
But okay I won't post it here, because this is the Nox topic! -
Anyone know any details on the optional ZBD 1680x1050 screen?
Will it be matte or gloss?
What is it's max brightness (cd/m2)?
Manufacturer?
Single Lamp/Dual Lamp/LED backlit?
Looking for a lappy I can use outdoors and for gaming and as long as the screen is up to it this is the one! -
S-E Hansson - I'm afraid I can't answer your question, although there will no doubt be someone here with a review model soon, and you could make sure they look for you.
I assume you're interested in using the computer as a DAW - you really need to get the DPC latency checked, since on the 6625 it's pretty bad, and seemingly unfixable at the consumer end - again something that could be checked once a review model is in existence here.
If you (or a reviewer) want any details on checking these, pm me.
related tangent: can anyone tell me about the importance of ACPI to my laptop (6625) - I know turning it off requires a full reinstall, not something to be taken lightly, but is it a prerequisite for some components...
This is off topic, I will start a new post - please answer there rather than here. -

LED backlit (I have to search for the source...) -
I've seen a few people asking about the screen's backlighting, what's the benefit? I'm guessing lower power usage...
-
If you could list the source that would be great - this is for the option screen not the standard res. Grasping at straws time...
EDIT: ok, it will be glossy... http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/866796.html . Shame. -
I told ya!
EDIT: But now you can make your own 'matte' screen with those special matte-plastics so... -
Any chance of a link CLB?
Also from another site commenting on the 6625 (which I believe has the same screen):
The 1680x1050 Pixel WSXGA+ UltraCrisp-display is not for nothing called "one of the best currently available displays at the market" by Zepto. The brightness is brilliant, during night, you'll might even need to dim the display, so, that it does not glare. This nearly completely qualifies the reflecting GlareType-display and does not disturb in any way. So, it is even possible to use this notebook outdoors.
Anyone else with the 6625 WSXGA+ care to comment? -
using a 6625 outdoors is not the most satisfying experience, but it can be made bright enough to be usable (assuming you do not need too much detail) - this based on using it outside on sunny days.
-
Cheers stutter, I think I am a little happier having looked at the matte film options. They seem a pain to put on but I have some experience in applying films without bubbles.
Both Kensington and 3M do a film that does not leave a residue.
I will not be "out and about" with the lappy so have some degree of control over where I use it to avoid reflections as much as possible. -
Another question for the Zepto A15 thread:
There is a selling point made on the Nox page about it using MxM as the GFX interface and it being "upgradeable". Does this imply it really will be upgradeable? Most MxM interfaces in laptops do not allow an upgrade... -
Thing is (what I think), is that glossy screens just looks so much better when not having sunlight shining into the screen. The colors and contrast is much better than matte screens.
Oh and its recommended to get a screen cleaner cloth to wipe the screen once a day
Edit:
Just looked at a maxed out Nox
And its not even THAT expensive, and it would beat the crap out of all my friends desktops -
It's important for outdoor use?
Nox =? Mythos
http://www.zeptoshop.nl/index.php?open=&geselecteerd=48801 -
Nox = Black
Mythos = White
Otherwise identical apparently. -
-
Lol and when will those come out?
-
'Couple of months'
-
But ONLY if the GFX card manufacturer makes a version for the MXM specification you have got, so ask Zepto which MXM version it's using, there are different versions -
Where would you buy a MXM GFX upgrade from?
And also do you think more powerful version with lets say.. a 9700M GT to be released. -
From eBay ;-)
And what do you mean?
A MXM-videocard which is the 9700M GT?
Or new Zepto's with 9700 GT's in it?
Happy for you, they aren't coming --> they will use the 9800 series ;-) -
So, in a couple of months, let's say september/october, we can expect a 15,4" Zepto laptop with a 9800m GT(X) inside......
Good to know! -
Yes sir
And with a screen with more than 1680x1050 pixels ;-) -
Am I correct in stating that we can expect to see a new 14.1" laptop in the next 3 months?
Nick. -
Yes sir
-
I've been following the Nox thread(s) on here for a while, but thought I'd finally create an account and comment. I contacted the danish Zepto department the other day and was told, that there would not be a 15,4" laptop with a 9800GTX - I assume it's because of it either wont fit nicely, or because of heat issues. The 17" inch laptop will have it though.
This is confusing though, as another salesman (from Australia) here confirms an 15,4" inch laptop with better graphic cards than the 9600GT ( http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/866796.html)
On a sidenote, I've been looking for a laptop for months now but waited for Zepto's new laptop series. The Nox is awesome, but I really wanted a 15,4" laptop with better than 9600GT (though, it is something finally better than 8600GT). Guess I'll have to wait a few more months to buy the laptop, until all their new models have been released. -
Why do you think they gonna say that ;-)
Because otherwise all those potential Zepto-Nox'ers are going to wait on that version ;-) -
FYI
If everything is on schedule we should receive our first NOX stock end of next week. -
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. -
Or it was too expensive to stay in their price range
-
Well i heard the high-end 15.4" was dropped to not overflow the line-up with too many models and too little speed differences.
But time will tell what is true or not. I bet we will know by the time the full line-up is out. -
This is a hard decision. The Nox with a SSD or the dell m1530 with a SSD... Dell seems to be more reliable and the m1530 has gotten nothing but stellar reviews. Zepta seems to have had some problems in the past with other laptops. I never heard of Zepta till the last week looking for a new laptop. I want something quiet, semi-powerful at least (i dont game a lot anymore but I do game), semi light, and with a sdd. Waiting on the review of this, hopefully soon.
fyi, talked to a rep, and the white version (mythos) will be out first week of august. -
Also to note, the SSD in the Nox is a MLC whereas I think the Dell is a SLC. Dell's SSD is much better, if you are looking for that. Though I must say, I spent all day emailing back and forth with a zepto rep, like 45 emails in the chain over 8 hours and they are amazing! If their computers were as good as the service I got, I think they would put all other computer companies out of business.
-
zepto >>>>>>>>>>>> .... ... >>>>> dell
dude, no comparison here -
Zepto USA sells both SLC SSD and MLC SSD, and Zepto Europe sells SLC. Just as customers may want. But you can't choose that at Dell. Even though the MLC is faster as a normal harddrive and not as expensive as a SLC I think it a nice option to choose between those two. You can't compare any laptops. (e.g Dell is heavy, Zepto is light weighted) Every brand has its pros and cons.
I think it also comes to service then only a brand. You can have a nice alienware, but with lack of the service you have a crappy laptop. That's how I see it. Sure some Zepto units do have problems. I don't that's for sure. But which brand doesn't have a unit that fails. Out of 100 laptops there are always laptops that fail. Zepto has that problem, Dell has that problem, and all other also. That’s why it comes to service.
Unfortunately you only hear the bad things of a brand on forums. Never the good. I’ve never seen someone post a message that he received a good working laptop and had no problems with it the years he had it. But as a Zepto owner myself, I rather have a Zepto then a Dell or Alienware I don’t think they are bad laptops. In fact I had more issues with my Dell then with my 6214W. Besides on a Zepto NOX you'll get 2 years of warranty. I really love that. Dell laptops have a standard 1 year warranty. If you give 2 year warranty I assume you stand behind the products you sell. -
so maybe im just dumb but i cant find the physical specs for this laptop anywhere. Does anybody know what they are? Also I have never actually held a Zepto laptop, is the case good quality? I ve had problems with laptop cases being below average, how does Zepto's compare to other brands, like is it anything that i should be concerned with??
Thanks -
You can read some of the specs here. I really can't find any comparison for you on this one. The NOX has aluminum reinforced chassis. So it should be good. I don't think you should be concerned. I'm not
This will be my second Zepto and I very satisfied with it. But that's only my opinion.
Sometimes you need to try first -
@CLB-NL
TELL US THAT YOU'VE RECEIVED YOUR ZEPTO AND THAT YOU'LL BE REVIEWING IT FOR US VERYYYY SOON!!
haha -
I would like to, but unfortunately it isn't here yet....
And I'm going on a 4 week holiday the 19th of July so...
But we will see, they've got a week so! -
Im also a little concerned about portablity I have heard rumors that the case is only 1.1 inches but its really hard for me to believe that they are cramming all of the possible specs of the Nox into such a thin case. Any one know what the thickness will actually be?
-
I've said that several times before and before and before and before =s
35,5 x 26,2 x 2,7cm with a weight of 2,7kg -
haha im sorry, they dont have that no their website do they? Im interested if you have a source?
-
Well I was SOOOO close to the nox. But I went with the dell. Its just the m1530 had such great reviews. I really wanted to pull the trigger on the nox but it was more expensive and I got more in the dell. Im not a big dell fan, though I dont speak from experience since ive never had one...but i think boutique computers are typically better quality. I talked to the zepto guy for like 14 hours online email back and forth. He had just gotten one in the store and said it was pretty sweet. One thing I really wanted was a quiet computer and the nox's fan is on all the time. Though its on low, it is on and with zero reviews, it was hard to gauge exactly how loud it is or at what point does it start turnin faster and such.
I was confused about the ssd...they just added their new super talent ssds to the website, as well as the singles they had before. I told the rep that i wanted a ssd, but price range was too high, so he worked in the super talents before they were on the website.
Im interested in the review... I think, though very unlikely, I can send my laptop back for a full refund still for the nox. -
My source.. Zepto Netherlands -
ok cool thanks the zepto websites i looked on didnt have it...i wish they were all the same. I talked to a rep from the US site and he told me that the thickness is 33mm which is like 1.29 in...either way very slim. He also said that there will be 2 screen options a lower res matte and a higher res glossy. These guys have the best customer service i ve ever seen in a company, they responded to all of my emails within 20 min.
