Averatec has policies of what is and what is not covered under the warranty. Please note that technical support and customer support CAN NOT tell you whether the laptop will be covered by the warranty or guaranty anything.
Averatec's warranty covers manufacturer defects such as:
Hard drive failure
keyboard failure
touchpad failure
LCD if it has more than 2 or more dead pixels 1 cm from each other.
Motherboard failure.
Resetting the CMOS battery.
LAN/WLAN failure.
Modem failure
ect.....
What can make a laptop considered out of warranty is:
Liquid damage.
Broken/ Cracked LCD.(even if it seems like a stress fracture)
Missing keys (however you can order the keys from customer support)
Damage upgrading RAM or HDD.
Broken Stylus.
Broken bezels.
Cracked cases.
If you plan on just sending in the laptop because you feel its a hardware failure issue CALL TECH SUPPORT!!!!! Failure to do so will result in your laptop being shipped back unrepaired. You will have to get a RMA number and have it visible on the box.
RMA PDF Files are located on their website http://support.averatec.com/rma_info.htm
Do yourself a favor before sending the unit in back up your data.
If ya cant then you are S.O.L. and there is no guaranty you will not loose everything on your laptop.
If you send your notebook in and it is found out of warranty, you will have to either pay for the repair or the diagnostic fee and the shipping back.
Diagnostic fee=45
Shipping with FedEx=$10 ground, $25 2nd Day, $35 Overnight
To determine eligablility for the warranty for 1 year there are 2 ways to determine this.
1 by serial number.
example 3250HX NE03CU041000256
here us how its broken down
N=Notebook
E=Series (i.e. 3250)
03= Model type
CU or CE= Computer U=Japan E=Europe
04=Year
10=Month
0256=Misc Numbers
2nd way is to Fax a copy of the reciept with RMA# to the ACC
Averatec unlike other OEM's makes the customer pay for the shipping to the repair facility. I personally think this is crappy but it save averatec money. Even though all averatec laptops are is thrown together computer parts and nothings is really proprietary on any of their notebooks. the limit is only set with the compatibility of the motherboard. Anywho be ready to pay for shipping.
If ya have any questions feel free to post.
