    Hi guys,

I open this thread for the Compal Booklet 3G to exchange experiences and tips. I have it since last week and am still highly satisfied. Except for one thing:

I mailed Nokia support to ask where I can download drivers and got the reply that Nokia doesn't offer driver downloads for their product. The drivers that come with it are everything you will ever see from Nokia. No updates or anything. The "Nokia booklet updater" only installs Ovi progs and widgets. So there probably won't even be Bios updates. The device is sold "as is". Typical Nokia support which I will remember when my next phone is due.

Anyways, I formated and partioned the HD to install a real OS (Win 7 Pro) and am now without the drivers. Can someone here please have a look at their Booklet to see whether the drivers are extractable? Maybe there's a recovery partition with the drivers as installers.

Another thing I've asked myself is if I can exchange the HD for an SSD. There aren't any openings on the device or latches on the keyboard but somehow this thing must be openable. Maybe a more experienced user can offer his thoughts on this.

    THX

Another Nokia disappointment. Today I received the Nokia Laptop sleeve CP-379. I'm not a fine luggage connoisseur and wasn't expecting anything extraordinary. I was expecting something of medium quality which fits the Compal Booklet 3G good.

However, this sleeve is the worst sleeve I ever had in my hands. It is of such a low quality and cheap feeling that I wouldn't pay more than € 3.99 for it. In fact it costs € 20. It doesn't even fit the device well.. This sleeve shows Nokias disdain for its customers. If you ever bought earphones from this company you know what kind of quality I'm talking about.

    I'll send this back tomorrow.

I am so curious about this device. Is yours windows 7 started or windows 7 premium? They are only selling it with starter in the USA? Have you done any sim swapping? How easy is it to use 3g when the device is already booted up? How is the 3G/Wifi connection switching?

    Howdy kingstu!

Mine came with Windows 7 Starter but I installed Windows 7 Pro. I'm not sure which Windows version the sell it with in the US (I'm from Germany).

3G is my only Internet connection at home as I canceled my landline long ago. I am at serveral Providers and therefore do a lot of Sim swapping. You just change the Sim and are online again after maybe 15-20 seconds. Very easy. The hatch which keeps SD and 3G slots closed is a little bit flimsy and I already wondered if it will stand up to all my openings and closings. I have to be a bit carefull with that hatch.

Damn I just wanted to be the first one to open this thread but ah well.

Anyway, yourbiggestfan can you send me a few pictures or like a mini demo of your booklet in action? Will be really grateful :)

I just checked the Nokia Booklet 3G out at Best Buy today and it looks and feels really nice although the keyboard is a bit small. I wish they made a ~12in version with a CULV and larger keyboard.

I saw the Booklet 3G in a store today and I liked how slim it was, but I did not like the sharp metal edges. The chassis is metal, aluminum I think, and has very sharp 90 degree edges all around. Very uncomfortable to hold and sharp enough to scratch up anything it touches...
