I ordered one planning to use it during college, but I'm considering canceling my order and getting something else instead. My main concern is the size/weight/portability of it. Can anyone comment on how it would be to carry around?

It carries just fine, tho it's not the ultra portable version. I personally have an EL80 and must say it's not half bad for lugging about the house or through town (if you gots a car it's not that hard anyway) but for carrying it on your arm etc well. it's just 15,4" that's all.

Go with something smaller if size/weight is a concern. I'd say try for the FT00 or some MSI ~12". I think I've seen an asus 12 or 13.1" with 8400 or 8600GS, not half bad it seems, might be worth checking it out ;) I think it was on Xotic.

    Cheers

I got mine today, and I think it's perfect. At approx. 6.5 pounds it's not heavy at all IMHO. I can't manage with a mini-size laptop - I can't see anything on the small screens. I have a slim tote to carry it in, and it's nothing bulky at all.
