Hey guys im looking for a nice all around laptop in the $1500 range and i found this one http://www.ibuypower.com/ibp/store/configurator.aspx?mid=156 with the 1 gig ram, upgraded dvd dual format, Nvidia Geforce 6600, and the M processor @ 2.0 ghz it comes out to $1513, but i cant seem to find much info on this make/model. I have found a couple people who bought it and gave it an 8.5/10 but i just would like some more opinions here is the platform website http://www.uniwill.com/products/hybrid/259en3/259en3.php?HL=1&H=1

thanks for any info/thoughts you have for me!

I believe there is a thread about Uniwill is one of the companys that makes laptops for Alienware, but I have heard there are some problems, but nothing major. Sounds like a good deal.

I already bought it from them actually price came out to $1499. I looked through some of the reports about them and a lot of them are dissatisfied, so im keeping my fingers crossed. A lot of it just seems to be the wait time for shipping. I just hope the machine runs well. if anyone has any more info about this model please tell me your expirience. I ordered it over the phone and it went pretty well, i asked for a discount cuz im a student and they upgraded to 3 day rush shipping, but that doesnt seem like much after reading some of the customer expiriences.

My Vigor Ares is a 259EN3. I have had it a month with no probs. I got it to get rid of my alienware 51m 7700. Its just to big and gets to hot. I spent 1808 on mine through vigor. Got 2gb if ram and custom paint. Also 2ghz processor and 100gb hard drive. I thought there pricing was really good once I priced putting a barbone together with the same parts.

well thats good to hear that it runs good and you like it, but i have heard that it too gets pretty hot, is that true? How do you like being able to switch between the graphics card and the intel graphics processor? What kind of battery life do you get on it and do you have the 6 cell or 9 cell battery?

I guess im not the person to ask about heat. I have been using prob the hottest laptop made. So stepping down from the 7700 to this the heat doesnt bother me at all. It gets a little warm on the right side but its not annoyingly hot like the alienware. The switchable cards is the main reason I chose it. I dont have exact times as i have not really tested it yet. You can tell a big difference in battery life between the 2 cards as the geforce will drop the battery indicator level just like my alienware. Im not sure if the media player mode uses more juice than watching a movie (or working) in windows. Using it, the battery may last the dvd but not much longer which kinda disappoints me. Though my 7700 might last 45 mins(not doing anything on it) if im lucky. Im not sure what size battery I have. I actually did not know there was more than one size. It doesnt saying anything about cell amount or size on the battery itself. I have also not been able to find a place to order any extra batteries. If you or someone have located a site I would love to know it.

EDIT: Its a 6 cell if found the info on the 9 cell but have not located a place to order it.

well as long as you are happy with it and it is running solidly that kind of puts my mind to rest, i bought it with out doing much research on it! I tried to find your model laptop but i couldnt find it anywhere using google. Where did you buy it btw? also i would like to ask about the WXGA screen, is that the kind of screen you have? Is it a glossy or matte screen because i know there is also a WSXGA+ screen which is matte. Im hoping the WXGA has a glossy finish.

PS You can try undervolting it if you want to increase battery life, i think there is a tutorial in here on how to do that. I think thats what im going to end up doing.

Vigorgaming.com is the company. The have a few advertisments in PCGamer mags. For the price and the paintjob (which is nice) for another 100 BUCKS I think they offer a good deal. Plus a warranty. The screen is a WXGA. I havent ever looked into a difference of matte finish or anything so i dont know. I would, but im a bit intoxicated atm. :p The other sites complained about heat but truthfully they must be some real wimps. I saw one guy saying it would burn him and there is no way. It gets warm on the right side close to the keys which doesnt matter as most games use wsad to move. With your hand on the mouse you should never even touch it. My alienware gets freaking hot right on the left side where you have to rest your wrist. Its retarded. Another person in my guild ordered the same laptop which should be in anytime. Hopefully he has good praises for it as well.

yeah that was in that guy donkey's review @ notebookforums he said it actually burnt him, but he thought its cuz a fan was broken or somehting. Well the difference between matte and glossy is that matte doesnt have a reflectable surface, so like if you were looking at it there wouldnt be glare from the sun on it, but glossy makes it look like its glass or has plastic over the screen so you get reflections/glare, but it is a bit brighter and crisper looking than matte. Heres the forum topic about it
