I just started looking at these computers and they seem pretty solid. Can anyone else give some insight or knowledge about them and what their general pros/cons are?

My friend has a sager it seems to be a really nice laptop, but no battery life. It was a bit out of my price range though so I didn't look at any other of their models too much.

Some guys on a PowerBook forum actually recommended a Sager if I didn't get a PowerBook. You can't get a better recommendation for a hardware alternative than from the mouth of an Apple fanatic.

You have very good taste if Sager made it near the top of your list of choices. I dont know if links are allowed here (a mod can edit this) www.pctorque.com is a Sager reseller. I've noticed that the Sagerites are a very intelligent group of people. Especially when there are hundereds on a particular forum (hint)

Sager notebooks are mostly popular because of the raw power that they provide. They are definetely not light notebooks, they are very hot most of the time, loud when compared to Pentium-M notebooks, and overall really reliable.
They usualy provide more options for a notebook than any other, since some of them support dual or at times 3 notebooks. TV tuners, dual channel ram, fast gpus, fast processors, etc.
Cons - In my opinion are the weight, the size, the heat, and the noise.
Pros - Probably the most powerful notebooks out in the market. [|)] -
I disagree they are overpriced and nice looking but when my 1000.00 laptop beats my friends sager 2200.00 in performance there is something wrong. Granted without all of his extras to make it as close as possible to mine it would only be 1800.00, but still its got 1gb ram 2.6ghz processor 60gb 7200 rpm hd, 128 9600 PRO Turbo. Then in gaming benchmarks and acutal fps I can beat or tie his machine in almost every test. I will grant you that his machine is a much prettier machine with some specs that aren't even options on my computer. But from what I've seen they don't add that much, and the ones I like I have in my desktop (i.e. dvd burner, 1gb ram actually 1.2 in desktop, 2x80gb 7200 rpm drives, and great looks). Also, the sager battery life is attrocious he can get max 1.5hrs of battery life on his machine. I do believe they are solid machines though and perform well, there is just a lot of hype about how much better they are. I was looking at buying one as well especially after seeing how well his performed for a laptop and the cool looks, but luckily I didn't want to spend that much money so I kept looking around and found the one I have now.

its the older 5690 from October 2003
2.66ghz P4
1gb Ram
60gb 7200 RPM hd
15" monitor
dvd burner
128mb ATI 9600 PRO Turbo
as for beating my notebook 7200 rpm hd will only help with load times
3.0ghz processor practically no gain in any game
9700 vid card slightly better performance, but if I ever need that I can overclock my video card to same speeds. However that will prob never happen as the gain in performance for the added power usage and heat was only 1,000 pts or so in aquamark3.
and as for the rest of "beating my underequiped system" I would hope you get something for your extra 600+ dollars

Hi guys,
I am considering the Sager NP4750 with AMD64 3200+. It has a 17 inch screen, everything i need and even more - 128 M11 and I am NO gamer. It has come to around $2000 and I am thinking of getting it in place of the aMachines M6811 which still has those nasty hinge problems and some other USB2.0 mishaps (with the BBB ASP the M6811 will be about 200 or so cheaper than the Sager but the build quality ore than makes up for that).
Could you tell me what is the battery life of the NP4750 which, again, comes with AMD64 3200+ and 17inch screen. Any further info on this model will be appreciated.
Oh, and does someone know if the AMD64 used on the NP4750 is the low-voltage Mobile or DTR version.
Thanks a lot.

I have bought 2 Sager laptops from Powernotebooks and am very satisfied with the Sales, service and product I have received from them. They are by far the most friendly and professional group of people that I have run across in my many years of working in the computer industry. I have dealt with many other makers of laptops in my career and pound for pound you cannot find a more configurable, cutting edge brand then Sager. Most, if not all, of the big names cannot or will not give you the ability to configure your system with the latest equipment. And I know this for a fact. The current laptop I have, the Sager NP8890, still has components that other makers are not even offering yet. And their new systems coming out in a couple of months will even be more state of the art and leap that much further ahead of the competition. In my opinion you cannot find a more well respected and user friendly staff anywhere. And if you doubt what I am saying, look them up on Reseller Ratings and look under Top Stores and see who is sitting in the Number 1 slot. Here is a link just for convenience.
