    Hi everyone!

Do any of you know how to turn off the battery led (when its unplugged) and the middle light?!?!? (of three). You see i like to close the lid and just listen to a show or some series before i fall asleep but these darn lights light upp the room as downtown New york....

    appriciate your time

I also noticed the bright lights - see my 6024W review.

One fix is to put half-paint over them with a black market pen although I would prefer to turn down the power and increase the battery time. Maybe mine have gone dim with age, but I don't notice them so much now.

Yeah mine is quite bright too, but Im afraid that the power cant be lowered that much as LEDs need a specifyed amount of voltage to even glow, and when they start to glow they glow quite brightly.

Iv noticed this with my USB headset and ext.hdd wich also have blue lights, and the headset one lits up the whole room (or atleast a line)

I should take a pic of my lappy in the dark as it looks quite cool in the dark :D

    :D jbonello

I'm seriously thinking of nacking the lights just to get some peace of mind, or my girlfriend as she is complaining even more than I am about this.... :D

No, but really there must be some solution to this??

I really doubt turning these LEDs off will make any noticeable difference in terms of battery life but I agree with John's suggestion of putting half-paint using a marker pen or alternatively using black masking tape. You can put the tape on the area, then using a model knife cut it carefully around the LEDs and peel off the excess tape. When done carefully, it doesn't leave any residue and you can always remove the tape from the LEDs in future.

I did the tape-trick on my power button at the upper right corner of my 6224, and that doesn't look too bad.

I think is an example of, that the design is not tested as good, as it is by some of the larger well known brands.

I have many friends who love all the shiny bright colourful LEDs on their computers. All those Alienware, XPS laptops/gaming computers have crazy bright LEDs all over the place yet my friends all love them. Also I know someone else who has modded his computer case with clear acrylic windows with LEDs glowing inside and it looks like a mad UFO :D I suppose, at the end of the day, it is only a matter of personal taste/preference.

Yeah well your friends are from the younger generation? Many Zepto owners use their laptops for business and so and I dont think a XPS would fit in a conference room :D

Well one of them is same age as me (30) but he uses it at home for gaming (as expected) but I totally agree with you, too many lights won't fit in a conference room. But again, lights on Zepto don't really disturb me much unless I am in a completely dark room. However, I can understand the annoyance it might cause in a dark room.
