I figured since we have the 15" version of the system posted I would make one for the 17" version. The reason I bought it is I was having trouble with the backlight on my keyboard for my Mech 17.

I had dumped my boxes cleaning out the garage a few months ago (don't do that kids, keep your boxes) so I had nothing to ship it back in. I decided to buy this on a trial basis while my Mech is being fixed. If I like it, I might sell my Mech as I think it is too much machine for my needs anyway.
It is performed really nice so far.

So is this basically the same machine as the Mech-17, maybe just updated with a different style chassis?

Some people on YT comments are saying that their EVOO laptop boosts the RTX 2060 clocks higher on the "Turbo" setting, akin to Eluktroboost/Overboost. Can anyone who has this laptop confirm this?

The notebookcheck review mentions the 2060 on this unit is ~12% faster than a 2060 in other laptops, so I'm thinking it wasn't advertised that it has been factory-tuned to use more power for higher clocks.

EDIT: It definitely has something like Eluktroboost/Overboost going on. Clock speeds go up to 1890-1980 at full load with a +150 OC on turbo mode, while the CPU becomes power limited and can't clock higher than 3.6 Ghz. Makes it a worthwhile buy as it's the closest to a desktop 2060 you can get in a laptop.

Here is the Firestrike 3DMark from my LP6, which I picked up on Black Friday for $999.

    https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/42158033

I have been very happy with the LP6. I returned an MSI GS65 in favor of it. In addition, I also had an MSI GS75 through my work for a little bit, and with a 2080 in that, it scored lower at (15.6k Firestrike).

There are some really minor quirks with this laptop, but I am super pleased with it. In this price range, with this performance, you often see laptops get really bulky, but this LP6 is quite slim for 17". I also bought an LP5, and I'm extremely pleased with that as well.

I am still using Firestrike because I have a lot of legacy benchmarks from old computers which ran Firestrike back in the day. If anyone wants a different 3D Mark Benchmark, let me know.

The battery on this laptop is 46 W. I read there is a 4-cell 62.32WHr battery for the 15" evoo laptop. It also fits for the 17"? Also is there a 6 cell 90+ whr battery upgrade for this laptop?

Anyone know the screen model / specs of the screen? I know it's 1080p 144hz, but I mean the other details.

Maybe the cable connecting the battery has come lose? So it is detecting the adapter but the connection inside the laptop to the battery is not allowing it to charge?

    hi all,
bought this laptop few weeks ago. i gave to my high school-kid but he doesn't like it as the keys are so clicky... well i ended up using it. like it so far... overkill for my needs but i decided to keep it. anyway i am curious of following :
    1. which type of mechanical keyboard is actually installed on EVOO 17 ? is it the regular noisy level or less noisy ?
    2. i never see other GK7CP0S siblings called MECH 17. is there anyway we can swap the EVOO's keyboard with brown switch type model from eluktronics MECH-17 ? they advertised on their customization page :
" Select from the optional blue switch type for a clicky tactile sound or a brown switch type for a quieter keys for use in business environments, libraries, gaming next to your wife, etc."
anybody knows what is brown switch type keyboard model they advertised ? will it fit well & just plug&play with default EVOO keys ?

    thanks for any replies !

I would guess that you can switch the keyboard but one thing to consider:

The backlight in my Mech 17 went out. I contacted Eluktronics and I figured they would send me a replacement keyboard with some instructions on how to replace (like Dell does). But they said for this model/form factor you need to remove the motherboard to replace the keyboard. That it would void the warranty if I did this myself so I had to send the machine back to them instead.

i believe the reason for your situation is to keep your warranty intact. i believe the reason for your situation is to keep your warranty intact. and one thing we, regular user, need to note, the keyboard may only be removed from the bottom, that's why you need to disassemble MOBO. i noticed there is only 1 single piece cover on top around keys area, so seems no way to pry out the whole keyboard unit from top.

my emphasized question is : whether EVOO 17 OEM keyboard is quieter model (like MECH 17 brown switch keys) or is it the non quiet model ? i guess i have to compare side by side to find the answer. is someone out there happens to have these 2 particular models can answer for me ? i leave it here then.. overall i start getting use to it's clicky sound which kinda annoying at first.

Is also like to know if we can get a quieter keyboard. I'm trying to get used to this keyboard, but I'm not really loving it. I do love the laptop though. I have the OP-LP2 also, and I like that keyboard better, but I know that's not an option here.

Something I've noticed is that the keys wiggle side to side on the EVOO whereas on the OP-LP2 style, they are much more solid (this it feels better to type on).

Anyone know if the older style keyboard is swappable?

    hi all,
today i openend my EVOO 17, i snapped attached picture of the inard form bottom for your viewing pleasure [IMG]
    https://imgur.com/a/pl3KGXt

@ to access keyboard, needs to disassemble motherboard. it can only be detached from bottom side. myriad of screws... unless something breaks, better not to bother it.

@ no subwoofer on this model. not like Mech-17 G1R even they look same. we know walmart gotta save some money here and there.

i have silly question for you who own EVOO17 with RTX 2060 : what kind of media player do you use ? i am looking for a free media player, if i can, to play HEVC & UHD format videos. i have been pulling hairs try to figure it to work with PotPlayer for now but i so far got very ugly pictures compare to my previous PotPlayer on Win 7 machine. if you have success story on this, please share to me your software name & your software setting specially with filters. i am on win 10 home v. 1903 build 18362.535.

thank you for your help !

How do you like the screen? How's the backlight bleed? and the Keyboard? I am on fence to buy one.

    Thanks,
