I have the 15" inch version (I7-10875H 2070 super Max-P 32GB Tongfang GM5MPHY) sold in The Netherlands Europe but it it the exact same version sold by many other OEM's world-wide (Schenker, Sager, Eluktronics, PCSpecialist, Mechrevo, Evoo, Overpowered. My opinion sofar:

    - MSI After burner works perfect and gets to a 2000+ safe overclock

    - Beast and gaming settings works okee, but do not keep their settings on reboot

    - Fans seem less loud then Clevo versions

    - Temps are fine under ultra Ray Tracing DLSS settings. Battlefield 5: CPU 89 and GPU 70 (artic paste cooling)

    - Chassis got warm and during first session it bend so that it became unstable, had to bend it back again (Plastic bottom cover issue ?)

    - Using Elutronics Control Center: Who developped this package? As every OEM distributes their own version i.e Mechrevo, Eluktronics, PCspecialist, Sager, Schenker etc.)

    - Feels much better that Clevo models

    - Windows NVIDIA geforce Windows version issue is not BIOS problem but driver. This version fixed that issue for me: https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5022 Just deinstall all NVIDIA drivers (DDU) and perform a clean install with this version 445.98

    - Intel driver & support assistant also work and intel graphics driver also updated to a higher version

-XTU: 120w boost and 120w peak boost also after reboot.

Summary: Best gaming and office laptop I have seen and worked with sofar.

    Thanks @KVDNL

    * Have you bought it from laptopparts4less? Did you opt for their thermal paste upgrade or did you do it yourself?

    * The Eluktronics Control Center works on non-Eluktronics models? Good to know.

    * How's the audio? normal laptop bad or bad laptop bad?

    * How long does your battery last for light office work, movies etc?

    * How is fan control? Can you work silently when needed?

    * Which Clevo models did you have before?

I'm also looking at exactly the same laptops you mentioned at the bottom. Both the new xmg neo 15 and the pc specialist one. I'm in UK so I will probably get the UK one. Its just very hard to make the choice because some don't provide enough information. The German xmg neo 15 one provides glass touch pad and 64gb ram possibility and the battery can be replaced.
The pc specialist recoil iv has 94mah battery compared to 93mah, it also is made of aluminium (not sure if that's the same on xmg), and has the Intel 10th gen 8 core compared to the 6th core on the xmg neo 15.

So hard to choose! I really wish someone could review both these models!

Stay tuned, I think @B0B is finetuning a review? Also check out the MECH and MAX threads here on the forum, users of the new models may post their experiences there.

I ordered the Rcoil IV 2070 Super, I also contacted Eluktronics ans they said yhey are woking on uploading their bios on to their support page as it will likely be less locked down than the PCS Recoil IV

    Hope this helps

Ok so I'm surprised their aren't more people posting here about the new MECh 15-G3 / Recoil IV

I got mine a couple days ago, overall pretty damn sweet laptop with the help of XTU and having it plugged in the wall, I was really surprised how NOT TOTALLY GARBAGE the 10875H i as a cpu, even in gaming I;m getting aster single core speed but I'm also coming from an 8750H so.

I bought a 1440p 240hz (HP Oen x27) and now anything but 240hz literally hertz my eyes!

240Hz is still better even if you only can get your game at say 147 FPS heck even 60 because of the motion clarity you gain by having 240hz

My HP is still far ahead but this is better than any 144hz displays I've had before

anyway please send me the link to the thread where it's all happening, I need to know more bout the Eluktronics version,

It's a great machine, I'm so loving the keyboard for gaming it has proper travel, the Razer had much better RGB lighting but I'll take the better keyboard even though I'm not a fan of number pads on 15inchers.

I'm suprised there aren't more people on here discussing the Mech-G3/Recoil IV/ etc....

My hope i we get a new bios soon with even more options, or soe clever dude at win-raid.com unlocks it for us....

I'm hoping we can somehow flash the 2070 Super to 150W from 115W, probably overkill but still would be fun just not a 24hr setup.

I have this weird thing tho with mine the backlight of the keyboard is always turned off when I boot up the laptop.I always have to press Fn F7 to light it up....no big deal but doesn't make sense to me, I looked in all the options but nada...

    So any ideas are welcome!

    Peace people!

    Will

    • How are your temps?
    • Do you hear fans in office mode?
    • Can you post pics of the inside?
    • Battery run time?
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

My temps are surprisingly good considering the 8 core but thats because I'm undervolting using XTU, still though it's still impressive to see a big cpu like that on 14nm be manageable in 15inch for factor
The fans i office mode are quiet and you can make them even quieter if you want, they';ve added a customise fan curve editor too which is pretty awesome

I don't have any pics yet, but later today I will as I'm putting the back plate back on so maybe if I don't forget I'll post on here...

Battery run time is something I haven't had time to test properly yet but it has a huge battery so if you tune it well you should be looking at 8-10 hours pretty easily

Cheers, hope this helps a bit

Hi, I have Aftershock Vapor 15X(Tongfang GM5MPHY/Eluktronics Max-15) and I'm facing some issue with the Control Center.
When the Control Center is installed a 'Name Not Available' appears at my Volume Mixer and won't go away until I uninstall the Control Center again. Anyone facing the same issue and any solution for it?

Has anyone cracked open their unit and taken a look at the battery? The quest for a gk5cn6z-compatible 94 whr battery continues. The model number would be greatly appreciated.

I'm confused isn't this the thread for the Mech-G3 that already has the 94 whr battery? Because it won't fit in the Max 15 as far as I know...

That said when I'm finished needing access to the cmos battery (I'm still dialling in the memory) net I opn it up I'll have a look.

This is the Mech-15 G3 thread. I was asking if the battery in the G3 would be compatible with the G2, which is limited to 62 whr. I did my own research, and it looks like it is NOT compatible, as it is the same as that in the Mag-15. Would still appreciate it if you could confirm the part number, though.

Ok, got ya, it's starting to make more sense now lol

I'll OC my memory, it will most likely crash so I'll have to go back in to clear CMOS,I'll look at the ref of battery.then.

By the way I have no idea what the Mech G3/ Rcoil IV etc with its 94 whr battery is supposed to get you trime wisek

new version of the control center from PCSpecialist:

    https://we.tl/t-d7Qx0fY2PY

Hope it fixes no backlight at startup.

    Cheers

WARNING! It has ruined my keyboard backlight, its turned off, all the time even when pressing FN+F7

i think its because I didn't uninstall prior to installing this one...You've been warned !!

After some deliberation I ordered a Clevo PC50DD2 instead, which hit the €1500 mark better than the Tongfang model. Hopefully I won't come to regret it...

Has anyone found a vbios for thr RTX 2070 Super that we could flash onto this chassis for added performance?

The MSI G66 2070 Super vbios comes to mind as it seems to be one of the best performers and comes with a 290W PSU, so I'm wondering if they didn't give the GPU a little more headroom in terms of power...?

Any ideas as usual are always welcome

    No problem, hope it helps.

I'm surprised to see this thread so quiet, I guess most people are buying the Max 15 with the new RTX Super GPUs then.

I was hoping we would get some eluktronics Mech 15 G3 tweakers here but it doesn't seem to have caught up yet...

I'm especially looking for ways to push the GPU a little more it looks like we might be stuck with the 115W TDP vBios that comes stock... facepalm

Looking forward to new owners coming around! Also, have any of you managed to upgrade to Win 10 2004 yet? Mine says my device isn't ready yet...

    Cheers

Yeah I got 2004 to install eventually and tried the new Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling but it's causing my games to crash more than anything else... Also I think it's more of a feature that seems to work best if you have a low to mid range GPU. Higher end systems see no benefits or even worse results.

It's still early days though so hopefully it improves with later windows and driver updates but for now I've turned it off, it just doesn't work well enough yet.

Please don't give me too much flak for posting essentially what is also a new thread that I created:

Eluktronics Mech 15 G3 Bios request for TongFang locked down owners
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...quest-for-tongfang-locked-down-owners.833463/

But basically after watching B0B's aka BOAT review on the Eluktronics Mech 15 G3 I was drooling at the sight of the much more advanced and enthusiast friendly Bios that comes with their version of the chassis.

So I'm simply asking if someone could upload the bios of the Mech 15 G3 / Eluktronics's Tongfang GM5MP0Y. Whether or not it has been "Eluktroboosted" is not a problem.

I could finally run my DDR4 at the XMP speed it is rated for, 3200Mhz (no XTU is max 2933Mhz).

I'd be eternally grateful ! It'd be so awesome to cram in some more awesomeness into an already awesome chassis.

Thanks guys, hopefully these new chassis start ramping up on deliveries and we get a few more folks around here so we can all share our tweaks.

Keep on flashing, stay safe, speak soon y'all.

I bought two laptops from them (see sig). @Frits@LaptopParts4Less normally answers very rapidly, sometimes within hours (!). I'm very satisfied with their service, although I've never need to make use of my warranty. I would mail them again.

No, I've been talking to their tech support, they sent me another version of the gaming center that didn't work at all, in fact the backlight wouldn't turn on at all even if I pressed FN+F7..!!

I also have the sound that pops and crackles at random times so no we're talking about an RMA which is really a pain in the backside as I need the laptop for everyday use.

I'm going to reinstall Windows 10 to see if it fixes anything.

It could be that there's a batch of those TongFang Chassis that have issues, not sure, I also have problems with the letter "M" not registering properly sometimes....It's a nightmare I hate RMAs so I' tryinf my best to find ways around it as uch as possible... (you see another "m" missing)

Maybe you can try the new gaming center it might work in your case, ask for it they'll send it to you via a download site.

No, every time I start the laptop, the backlight is on at first then Windows boots up and it turns off which is really annoying at night in dark environments....

They sent me their latest bios version which fixed the backlight issue.

Oh cool, do you have the link to the bios please? I'm still having issues with the backlighting not starting up... did a whole windows reinstall... it would be very helpful thanks!

Also is the bios they sent for the Recoil IV with 2070 Super? Not sure that matters as long as it's for the correct chassis the GPU shouldn't be a problem but it would just be even better if you had a 2070 Super.

Thanks, I really can't wait to get this fixed, it's really annoying at night! Defeats the point of having a backlight keyboard!

PS: My current bios is N 1.03 so yours should be newer

I think 1.09 is the EC (embedded controller) not the bios....

I tried to find it on the TongFang website but its all in chinese or bad english or it's just me being dumb!

I emailed PCSpecialist hoping they will send me the new bios link.....
