Hello, ive got a problem with my touchpad on my 6625, first it started with the touchpad randomly not responding and then eventually just went to the thing stopping working completely. Now when i restart my computer the touchpad has disappeared from the device manager, it will work for a short period of time if i reinstall the drivers but then eventually stop again. I have tried removing the synaptics drivers completely and reinstalling them but this appears to be only a temporary solution, i cant understand why this keeps happening. Can anybody help me with this matter?

    had something similar

i didnt have any synaptics installed but touchpad worked fine. one day it stopped working, i removed drivers from device manager and asked vista to search for devices and it worked again but not for long.

i then removed the device completly from device manager

    restarted

installed latest synaptics driver from synaptics site and everything is fine now

cant figure this out, my laptop does not recognise that there is a touchpad and vista cannot find anything, i restart still nothing, i uninstall restart and still it finds nothing, so i installed the original drivers on the zepto disk i have shut down the laptop leave it for a bit and turn it back on to find the touchpad working fully? to which it then stopped working again as it usually does a few minutes later. Restarted again and the laptop finds nothing again, it appears as if the touchpad decides when it wants to work and when it doesnt, faulty hardware maybe?

*edit* shut the laptop down for about 5 minutes, when i turn it back on the touchpad is working again, lets see for how long :(

It is not becasue you are hitting the Fn+F1 (enabling/disabling the Touchpad function) in the keyboard?

Nope i never touch fn+ any f keys unless i need to use bluetooth and ive not needed to use that for a long time.

And also when it does stop working hitting fn+F1 doesnt solve the problem if perhaps something was going wrong somewhere to make it turn itself off.

Right i really didnt want to try this but the touchpad had been working for 10 minutes or so then it stopped, the icon in the system tray didnt have any colour on it to indicate pressure etc so i put some pressure with my hand onto the touchpad for a few seconds and the icon in the system tray had a dark blue mark on it presumably to indicate alot of pressure, the touchpad then started working again?

It seems as if something is going wrong with the actual touchpad like after so long something overheats or slips (shrug)

try my suggestion once you have the touchpad working (as then it should show up in device manager)

finally got my zepto to recognise the touchpad without any drivers installed the latest synaptics drivers but i still get the same problem with after so many minutes of use the touchpad will just stop responding and then after so long without use it will respond again, definately something not working correctly with the pad i think...sigh.
