    Hi there.

I have a medion md97600 that i purchased from aldi a while ago. the charger no longer works and i cannot find a replacement. Ive bought a universal charger where the voltage info matches the charger im replacing, the only problem is the wattage. I dont know much about it, and my old charger is 65w, the new one is 96w. Would this be a problem? If so what could happen to my laptop.

    thanks.

Nothing will happen. It's actually better, the charger will run cooler.

As long as the voltage is the same, you're fine.

The computer will only use the power it needs, so as long as the voltage is correct and the plug fits (and the polarity is the same), then it will work.

I was in the same boat once, not with a Medion laptop, but another, I had to buy a Universal charger, and the people at the shop told me the voltages HAD to match. If it was too low, it wouldn't be any good, and if it was too high, it could fry the board. I don't know if this is true, but that's what I've been told.

If the power rating (Watts) is too low, it can cause system instability as technically you are not providing enough energy to the system. Going over by alittle bit on the other hand is fine as the system will pull what it needs.
