My friend is experiencing a weird problem. His laptop's ( Optimus Smart M200M, a Polish vendor ) touchpad works fine, untill you press any key on the (internal) keyboard. When he presses a key, both touchpad and keyboard stop working.
Did anyone experience similiar problem and has a solution? I've read of some Acer models that had this issue, but the whole "taking out the battery" idea didnt work.
USB-plugged accessories work tho, so its not THAT bad eh.
Cheers,
Simon

Hi!
I had similar problem on Benq Joybook 7000 of my girl friend.
I figured out it was an overheating problem. I cleaned the fan but it was too late already: one chip (the keyboard controller) already had loose contact with the motherboard. A reballing of this chip has saved us from purchasing new motherboard or new notebook.
It was impossible to find place to make reballing in Berlin, so I actually brought it to Warsaw to repair and it works flawlessly since then.
If you need an address of the firm which made the reballing for us (great and relatively inexpensive service) please send me PM.
Is this Optimus 12-incher? -
Hi ivar,
my Joybook 7000 stopped working half a year ago and 2 months later the one of my girlfriend showed the same symptoms: it was freezing or turned off suddenly. This sometimes happened after a few minutes sometimes after some hours.
Now that I read your reply I remember that it all began with some weird problems with the touchpad and the keyboard, so I am wondering if it was the same problem that you had.
Can you tell me where the keyboard-controller is located on the motherboard and how it looked like with your Joybook, so I can find out, if it is the same problem.
In this case I would like to use a reballing service, too (first I had to find out what reballing actually is). I am also from Berlin, maybe we can get in contact so I can benefit from your experiences.
Thanks in advance
