I have a Compal model IFL90, and an 8600mGT DDR2, I was wondering if this DDR3 version would fit (the website below says MXM 2 version 2). It's reasonably cheap, and I could easily sell my current 8600mGT DDR2. If it can fit, should I buy it or just wait for the 8800M's to come out (is it MXM2?) The website below says it's for Asus only, but would it still work in my IFL90?

It depends on how much you want to spend the 8800's will be sweet but very expensive. If you have a lowere budget I would just upgrade to the
    DDR3 version.

Price isn't too much of an issue, it's better tp upgrade than replace a laptop whole (although anything over $700 and I will lose interest). Is the 8800 going to me MXM 2?

the cooling solution is too much suckish to cool down a 8800, unless you want to underclock a whole lot, forget it.

    The DDR3 is a 256MB version.

I doubt the upgrade will help you with leaps and bounds.

I really do find the 8600m GT DDR2 w/512 vram to hold it's own.

    More reliable that my desktop 7900GS w/ ddr3 256.
