    Ok how can i know wats the fastest processor i can put in my hel80 if um upgrading my processor??? If possible can we send back our hel80's to the manufacturers and get them replaced with any new versions that may come out??? Like my laptop is a iBuypower Battalion Hel80. Say a newer version come out and seeing that laptops hav limits to uprading can i send back my laptop to the factory for updating?? Or i would have to call them and and question???

    You can upgrade your processor yourself, up to a Core 2 Duo T7600. That is the fastest that the motherbaord will support, but it may need a BIOS update. Later this year, Santa Rosa will be released, and perhaps the notebook will be refreshed with a new motherboard and processor. In that, case you may be able to send it out to get it replaced with this, however, it will probably be very expensive.

    Generally, a processor upgrade will only be a sensible idea if all you do is video edit and encode. Other tasks, such as gaming, are limited by the graphics card, and even lower clockspeed processors can game very well.

    i know about the changing the processor i currently have a T7200, which is cool for me so far the and 7600 cool i dont game as hard as i use to but soon enough the card will be too low for me and my expectations. But in sending back the laptop tuh the makers wont it be cheaper than to buy a new one from the stores???

    i know they say the gpu isnt replaceable, but what if i replaced the motherboard and gpu and rigged it up somehow? theres gotta be a way to upgrade the hel80, i cant believe that its absolutely impossible. not that im gonna do anything like that in the near future.

    oh yea wasn't there something about them coming out witha pci express gpu option? that would be grat for when the go7600 becomes out of date, just plug in the newness!!!!

    If you are into spending way to much money on gimmick things, there is a product from ASUS (XG) that is an external PCI-E user upgradable video card solution..

    Laptops aren't really upgradable like desktops are. The screen goes with the case goes with the motherboard goes with the processor and gpu. Even desktops can only be upgraded so far before you're replacing the motherboard/cpu/ram, and essentially building an entirely new machine. That Asus thing won't keep your laptop living forever. It'll just give you more gaming power at a desk.

    yea i heard about that card thing, big bucks, i mean like say 4 or 5 years down the road when the 7600 wont be able to play any of the new stuff, i figure i will be able to use the t7200 for a long time seeing it is a 64mb chip,just throw a gpu into the pci slot an im gtg!

    It's not impossible, merely infeasible. You would spend way too much on trying to upgrade a current notebook to future technology to make it worthwhile. You're better off just getting your money's worth out of your current components and then buying a whole new system when this one doesn't cut it anymore. At that point you can always demote your current notebook to do lesser duties.

    Great point.

    The T7200 is a 64-bit CPU, not 64-MB.

    Yes it is possible to upgrade your CPU on your own. I would recommend you ask your reseller how it will affect your warranty coverage though. And since you have a T7200, I really don't understand why you would want to upgrade it. It will be more than enough to get you through to your next system in a few years.

    Answer = No

    It wouldn't be cost effective to expect them to either resell or try and upgrade your old system. You would be best off selling it after 2 years while it still have 1 year warranty left and use that money as a chunk towards your new system.

    64MB?? Don't you mean 64-Bit?

    The T7200-T7600 have 4MB L2 On-die cache, but they are 64-Bit processors.
