I was wondering what sort of memory speed does the Averatec 2370 take? The internal module is a DDR2-533, but I was wondering if it can take DDR2-667 or DDR2-800? Thanks.

it should take both, but it will only operate as fast as the bus in that machine, or the slowest piece of memory, whichever is lower.

If you are considering an upgrade, just choose which ever RAM is cheapest. If you use faster RAM than the one you currently have, the new RAM will automatically clock down to the other module, just like scottyinco mentioned.

If you are running or planning to run Vista on this notebook, I STRONGLY encourage you to throughly test your RAM before installation. A lot of weird Vista problems & crashes can be traced to less than perfect RAM.
I personally like MemTest86. This is a downloadable .iso file that can be burned to a self-booting CD. It takes several hours to complete a test, but you will know if you have any problems.
Note, MemTest86 will run your dual-core CPU at full-tilt (all 1.6GHz) during the entire test. Make sure you have at least elevated the notebook off a hard surface with as much airflow as possible.
