    Hi

I have a problem with my HEL-80 suddenly shutting down. But I wanna tell you the story from the beginning:
The beginning of March I sent in the notebook in order to get the CD drive replaced. Right after that, I updated Bios to 116B and installed Vista Business. I guess somewhere there the cause for problem could be.
Then, while playing Battlefield 2 I first experienced these sudden shutdowns after playing a short while. I think I had a shutdown while playing 1701 A.D. as well.
Because of that and other, probably driver related problems with vista, I decided to put XP back on, flashing the BIOS back to 115B before that (should I try 114 again?). Problem is, the shut down problem still occurs during XP installation as well. Tried two different CDs as well (Home and Professional). After XP didn't work I tried putting VIsta on again which worked fine.
Thing is, I do need XP this evening in order to run a program that screwed on Vista. Is there a way to solve the problem? Or to get XP on the Laptop somehow?
I checked whether the fan is clogged, but found it to be ok.
    I'd appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Max

Short update: It does seem to be a heat problem, as I just made the (probably very first) in-freezer-installation of XP, which worked.
Could the new CD drive be the problem? Or what, except for a clogged fan could cause overheating?

They may have not replaced the heatsink correctly, possibly didn't tighten it down right, maybe there's dust in there, maybe it rattled loose in shipping, lots of things that could happen. I'd send it back for repair, since it caused a new problem when it was 'fixed'.

I agree that getting in touch with your tech support team is a good idea.

What are the temperatures you are getting right before the system shuts itself down? And have you cleaned out the fan (how long has it been since you've last done that)?
