    Hey,

Since I have replaced my 8600 with a HD 3650 ddr3... I get weirdo vertical lines after the display wakes up. I also used a 512MB ddr2 version of the same card and I don't remember it doing this. It does it on both linux and windows as well, which makes me think it is a driver issue because I use ati catalyst on both OS's.

Anyone else had this issue? I may just go back to ddr2. I don't notice any performance increase anyway.

    *EDIT*
I have uploaded a screenshot of the problem, maybe it'll help. As you can see when I press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get to a TTY console... the lines go away and display refreshes and is back. But what is the reason for the lines coming on anyway? I only know it's a driver/hardware issue, I honestly don't recall the ddr2 version of the card doing this. I may reinstall the ddr2 version just to make sure... just don't feel like taking it all apart.

It is confirmed. It only does that with the ddr3 version of the card... I have the ddr2 version in now and it works just fine. Which means something to do with the chipset not having full support for ddr3.

I am the last to suggest a BIOS update, but I saw that BIOS showed VRAM of 0MB with older versions, when using an ATI card.

BIOS 1.18 always had it right, either 256MB or 512MB - maybe this could help.

Or the DDR3 version has a problem, maybe.

But, as the DDR2 version is working, and you are obviously happy with the performance, leave it be, I'd say.

    Cheers

I run BIOS 1.18 and it shows my 512MB Radeon as 256MB. It showed the 256MB DDR3 card as correct though. But CPU-Z sees the 512MB on the DDR2.

So yea, I'll just resell the DDR3 card I guess. But I didn't notice any performance increase over the DDR2 card in windows or linux.
