Wirelessman, no search before posting ? Anyway buddy, it only shows 4GB RAM... what you physically have (possibly to reduce tech support calls to Microsoft :)) So it only displays what you HAVE not what is actually utilized by the OS... and therefore everything else, itself! This applies to any 32-bit OS, Vista included.... 64-bit however, different story.....
Having SP1 on my desktop with 1GB DDR1 RAM shows up 8GB RAM  .... so don't even bother about it.. :)

yep...SP1 shows the amount of memory installed, not how much memory is available to use.

@prassad007: I have 4GB, but vista 32 would not display it, this was the experience of many other NBR members. It would always display 3,070MB, so besides that it cannot address the full 4GB for the reason I would not get into again, it does display 4GB now after I update to sp1.

Now, if your system display 8GB I doubt it, take a picture and post it.

That's the dxdiag page that I mentioned... I purposely had both up... the dxdiag to prove I have 1GB in reality :) Just goto start -> run -> dxdiag [enter]

I don't even use it anymore, now that I have the laptop.... this desktop is for my dad solely to use it now :D

lol I think I'd first have to explain to him what "GB" means! :p Well, not really... but he's still not tech savvy a bit. This desktop has a good old geforce 6800GS 256MB DDR3 RAM GPU in it... twas' great for gaming back then... but it won't be used... My dad'll just use it for e-mail, chatting, web browsing. :)

lol say wut ? :p Nah... it's just I used to use it the most... and he'd generally only use his office PC, since whenever he'd come home, I'd be using it and he'd never get a chance! :D But now it's different ;)
