I've got the 6130 HS-20, everything works ok including the sound, but the sound increases in volume all by itself. I have it set to the middle position in the Windows sounds and audio devices properties. The sound card is a Realtek AC97 Audio.

    Any Clues?

That's odd. Could you be doing it by accident with a scroll wheel or keyboard command?

It seems to happen when I use the Touch Pad Scroll Bar.

Sounds like a driver or configuration issue. I'd check settings in your touchpad control panel.

I reinstalled the audio driver, the Realtek driver and the symptoms remain. Strange.

    Workgroup,

Are you using a sound, or music playback app when this occurs? Some times when I'm using a music app that has been minimized to the systray, and the 'focus' is still on that app, keyboard commands will respond to the sound program until you mouse click on another app - say a word processor you're working on. Could this be a possibility? This happens to me all the time when I'm using JetAudio that has been minimized to the systray, yet working in the background to play music while on work with another app. Once you know what it's doing, it's easy to fix! Just a thought.

I use Opera exclusively as my default browser. In Opera you can setup .wav files from C:WindowsMedia folder to play when the page has loaded for example or when you close your browser or open it.

This is where I hear the volume increase after being in the Internet for a few minutes, from the .wav files being played from within Opera. But it's not Opera, because when I shutdown Windows, the default Windows XP shutdown music plays loud, then upon bootup, the Windows XP startup music plays at the normal, soft level. After a few minutes, the volume increases again until I reboot the laptop.
