You know, turn the ifl90 into a Penryn suitable platform.

Maybe because people are reporting stuff that's not related to question and the information.

    Hello,

I've built yesterday a new machine with Penryn 9300. It works like a charm for now. :)

The bios version is the default 1.12.

The only problem is that the core temp can't be detected. But the CPU is running very cool according to heatpipe temperature. :)

    Use core temp application.

You can also try to update your BIOS to version 1.16.
You have the latest mainboard which is fully supporting the Penryn CPU.
Maybe the BIOS is reading the temp correct, this will cause you software not to receive the correct info. (just a wild guess)

Neither core temp nor Right Mark CPU or any other utility can detect the correct temperature. I'm getting ridiculously low temps from 0 to 20-30 degrees.

You're probably right this is a bios issue, but I'm a little bit concerned because of this thread:

His issue is when your system isn't reporting the correct temps to the software tool which will provide numbers like 80c.
The CPU will get to hot, this will result in something like bsod and maybe damage the CPU.
So to be direct he is looking for the issue, is this software related or is the bios not reading out the correct temps.
To me I think the BIOS isn't reporting the correct temps, but the software can be running fine untill you discover the bug.
I say update the BIOS, KEEP IN MIND IT'S YOUR OWN RISK

1.16 is the latest driver, so it should report the temperatures correctly.

After hours of compilation I would say my IFL91 from last year is compatible with my new Penryn. No errors occured. Generated code is identical to that compiled with the T2330. Fan works correct. Cools down the System before one can't touch the heatsink anymore.

I think it was late october last year when I bought my laptop. And I think if you have one of the 2093426700XXX series like mine, or a newer one, you'll have no problems with Penryn.

Where do you find that number? Can you do a stress test with orthos for maybe 20min and report your temps?

I found that number in battery bay, on the label that tells me that I have an IFL91.
I did hours of compilation. That means hours where both cores had full load, and I could still touch the heatsink. So it can't have been much hotter than 42°C (107,6°F). And as the fan starts at about 50°C +- 3°C (~122°F) according to what I have read that makes sense. Conclusion: temperatur sensing works fine.

It's only going wrong when you install the version with/from the T5750 and you must use BIOS version 1.16 to get the CPU to be detected with the correct temps.

I still wonder if mine would also be compatible without getting the temp sensor.

Hard to say, I know that it's always exciting to tweak a laptop to get what is wasn't intended for, and obtain greater perfformance but in my case I have a dual core 2.4GHz, and most of the Penryn are not that higher than this, so I don' think is worth to do it.
