Whenever I start up my laptop or when the fans start-up it has a very distinct and loud sound that almost sounds like it's hitting something inside. I opened up the laptop and inspected the insides of the fan (by the way it's the GPU fan) and unfortunately found nothing. The weird thing is, when I squeeze the portion of my laptop with the GPU in it- the loud noise goes away. Anyone ever experience this problem on their laptops?

If it helps at all I'll give the system specs:
SABIO DIGITAL, SD-MW1 PM Notebook Barebone, 915PM, 15" SXGA TFT LCD, nVidia GeForce™ Go 6600 128MB Graphics

there is a post on powernotebooks.com (search for model 3:11) where it's said, that older models had problem with fan-blades hitting case.

also you may check your bios version - older bioses than Q3B61 had problem with spinning fan too fast.

What can I do to remedy the problem if the fan IS hitting the case. Any way I can fix it myself? or will I have to send it in. If that's the case- I really don't have a clue as to how to do that. I'm guessing RMA.

First check your BIOS version. Then check all posts on powernotebooks.com forums which touches PowerPro 3:11, maybe you'll find solution (also send a letter to Sabio - they are quick with answers or, at least, they were when I was asking).

Restart your computer. When boot screen apears press [f2] to enter bios setup. On the first screen you'll see BIOS version and serial number.

Thanks. I e-mailed Sabio Digital Tech Support and they've been wonderful. They're going to send me a replacement fan free of charge for me to install myself. Thanks for all the help!
