I've got a 6324W with the latest drivers installed. I've tried both Vista and now back to XP SP2. First of all after having the computer on for a day or two with firefox, photoshop, itunes etc. running I loose the right-click context menu in some programs and the save menu in photoshop doesn't come up.

This get's temporarily fixed by closing an app. This led me to believe it was a ram problem, but I have 3GB ram and atleast 1GB was marked as available when the problem occures.. Any ideas, suggestions?

Also, after running firefox for a couple of hours all of the sudden enter and ESC stop working in the website area. So all search forms etc on webpages can't be submitted by pressing enter and webpages can't be stopped from loading by pressing ESC. But strangely enough shift + enter & shift + esc works!!?

These problems have me baffled and I've held of reporting them since I tend to resolve issues with drivers update or something else but these problems have showed up in both fresh installes of Windows Vista ultimate and XP SP2.

well, maby u have a bit newer version now, and that version has the problem

but ofcourse, there might be a compatibility problem with some driver, but thats pretty unlikely

edit: have u checked your ram and hdd for errors (hdd is unlikely but just to be shure)?

I recall that Firefox used to have a problem with an old version of the Synaptics touchpad driver. Are you using the latest driver from Synaptics?

Slightly different, but may be related: I discovered what I think is unusual behaviour of the Alt + Fn combination on my 6024W. Every other notebook I have used I can press Alt first, then Fn, then the third key and then release the keys in any order. On the 6024W holding down Alt by itself triggers a sticky key behaviour unless Alt is released Alt. So try pressing Alt and see if it clears your problem.

John Ratsey: I'm using the Synaptics driver(8.3.4) from Zeptos website here: ftp://ftp.zepto.dk/Znote6324W/Drivers/XP/Touchpad

I've removed my 2GB ram module and after a couple of hours of heavy use(the 1GB stick left is almost full all the time) enter still works. I'm not sure how a faulty ram stick could produce this weird bug but if I don't get the shift+enter bug before monday I'm returning the stick for a new one..

OK, 8.3.4 is the newest XP driver available at Synaptics. It is unusual for bad RAM to cause a consistent problem but if removing the module fixes the problem then maybe your diagnosis is correct. You could test the RAM using Memtest. It's in the Testing Tools folder on the Zepto site and you need to burn the ISO file to make a bootable CD.

There's now a Synaptic 10.1.8 driver. Did you try that?

Something slightly similar is this problem which annoyed me when I first got my 6024W (6 months ago).

I've just tried doing it now and I can't get it to happen so maybe the BIOS has been tweaked (I did complain to Zepto). Are you running the latest BIOS?

John: Check out my other thread about this. There I've posted a quick fix and also links to the sysinternals thread that discovered the running out of GDI objects problem. Today a link to a MS hotfix both for Vista and XP was posted also!

I have the latest BIOS & Driver btw.
