    What 3dmark will 4870 give us?

    The avg 3dMark06 scores with Dual 3870s are 12,000.

    Approximately how much of an increase will we get with the new Dual 4870s if all other computer parts remain constant?

    your number isnt right. it depends on the cpu very badly,
    p8400 2.26ghz= about 10,000
    p8600 2.4 ghz = about 11,000
    t9400 2.53ghz= about 12,000
    x9100 3.06= about 13,000-14,000
    qx9300 2.53= about 15,000


    and if these are overclock it can shoot up alot more
    t9400 @2.9ghz= about 13,000
    x9100 @3.5ghz= about 15,683(record by e-wrecked about)
    qx9300 @3.8ghz= about 17,000(by chinese gamer or kn)
    these overclocks or not for daily use but just for benchmarks.


    also the 4870 will not give to much higher then these. (about a 2,000 point increase)
    Y? it uses old technology, dx9. 3dmark is in cpu score, gpu score(i know there is 2) and because 3dmark06 is mainly cpu and gpu. and any changes to either will effect the other scores. if you overclock the cpu it would affect the gpu score alot, and vice versa. i wouldnt use 3dmark06.

    if you want to see a real difference in performance try 3dmark vantage. if you overclock the cpu the gpu score isnt really affected, if you overclock the gpu the cpu score isnt really affected.


    edit. the asus with the 4850(i know it's a 4870 but it's gddr3 not 5 so therefor it is a 4850.) CF got 13,000 with a t9800 @2.83. it was buggy at the time. i think it should get alot more.

    and i cant find a 3870CF. sorry. i'll keep on looking.

    with my P9500 I got 11,000. So you're saying I can expect about 13,000 with the 4870s?

    Why does everyone want the 4870?

    Hey i didnt see you have a whitebook to. people want the 4870 because there the kings on the desktops. so if you have them in notebooks.........

    i would except to much from them on 3dmark benchmarks compared to 3dvantage or real world games
