Well, I am starting a new school next semester where I will live on campus. I would like to have a notebook so that I can work in many different places as I will be hopping around quite a bit.

I was surfing around, and then I remembered an Averatec I saw at a store not too long ago. I went to their site to see that they have a few new models. Went to Newegg and found the Averatec 6130H1.

It is 3.0GHz P4-M, 512MB DDR, 40GB HDD, and a Mobility Radeon 9600 64MB. And it could be found for a whopping $1100! Nice!

So I have a few questions about it.

    1) How is the battery life? Does the battery drain faster playing a game as opposed to typing a Word document?

    2) How is the gaming performance of the MR9600? I currently have a 9000Pro 128MB in my desktop, so I am hoping that even with half the VRAM, the MR9600 would be a bit faster.

    3) How does the keyboard feel? I am not good on small keyboards, but this one being widescreen may have a bit more room to work with.

I suppose that is all for now.

    Thanks in advance!

    I bought that model today.

The key board will take some getting as I haven't owned a laptop before.

It screams past my old desktop system (1.6 p4, nvidia GF3). Video proformance is very nice. But it does run a little hot.

So far I'm happy with it.

You may want to get the model with the DVD burner and larger HD for a little more.
