Hi, i was wondering what the name of the motherboard on HEL80 is?
Its intel something, right?

The chipset, according to milestonepc.com is the : "Intel ® 945PM Express chipset"
-
Who makes the BIOS for hel80 and are their any backdoor paswords you know of?
-
Unfortunately no. However, I believe flashing the BIOS does result in wiping the password currently on it. I would look on google before trying this though, and of course, flashing a BIOS is slightly risky given that if something should happen during the flashing process, your computer is totally, absolutely, and completely FUBAR'ed.
I am 99.99% sure there are a few backdoor passwords for Phoenix BIOS's. Poke around, I know that huge comprehensive lists for these passwords exist. I'm also pretty sure the BIOS passwords don't vary based on chipset, but I could of course be wrong.
If I was in your shoes, I would look for generic ways to bypass a BIOS/generic passwords. Then I would flash my BIOS. -
I agree, flashing your BIOS would be a last resort. Why not try resetting the CMOS first? For the HEL80 it's fairly simple.
First unplug the AC adaptor, then remove the battery.
Remove the cover from the central compartment on the bottom of the laptop, then remove each stick of memory. Gently pull the locking pins from each side of the stick, then tilt it up and take it out.
Once the memory is out of the way, you should be able to see a small copper square that is marked as J1 on the motherboard. It looks like this:
As you can see the square is divided down the middle in a zig zag pattern, you need to touch a screwdriver or paperclip to the square in such a way that both halves of it are being contacted at the same time, then hold it like that for at least 30 seconds. After doing that, carefully reinsert the RAM, close the compartment back up, put your battery back in, plug the AC adaptor back in, and turn the laptop on.
If the problem is just a simple BIOS password, this should clear it and let you start over.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -

Cool Joe. That's good info

Yeah man, where did you find that out? That's awesome.

I do tech support for PowerNotebooks.com and the factory provided us with that little gem awhile back. It's also something we're encouraged to have people try if their laptops suddenly stop booting. Simple and sometimes effective.
What is the name of the motherboard on HEL80?
