yep!!! had me wanting to check mine for a minute! *LOL* but my temps are cool.
that was a rookie move on the installers part. keep pictures and if they get funny, then send them copies of everything. that should pretty much do the trick.
looking good fusion!
-
he got the pictures, i asked kevin to come to this site to see. That's how I get him to believe.
-
ahhhhh, well done.
-
Goob job man. I knew it wasn't software related. This is just another reason why GPUs should be user accessible and upgradeable w/o fear of voiding the warranty.
-
Shane@DARK. Company Representative
Please tell me that removing the plastic didn't void your warranty.
-
Kevin tells me to remove the tapes at the end. -
Wow.. that was ridiculous! Ive gotta say.. very, very bad things could have happened. Glad you got it fixed.
-
Yeah, I can think of the worst case scenario.
If I use the laptop on my lap or bed, and this laptop eventually gets on fire or smoke because this laptop never shuts down even at this extreme temperature, and it can burn me with poisonous chemical release from the burning lithium.
Can you guys check the CPU temp while stressing it with wPrime as well? I wonder if the guy did the same on the CPU. -
or it's possible, that the ati has a higher threashold for heat. haven't really seen that posted anywhere yet. what the actual "temps to shut off" really are... (speculation)
-
roswell told me the system would shut off if the GPU is reaching around 90 degree, but it never happened. Roswell says the shut off threshold is built-in the bios, RIGHT.
The GPU is allowed to reach to 110 degree, then get cut off for less than 1 second, and continue again, again and again, so the temperature was always between 100 and 110 for so many hours.
So, can you guys check the temperature of CPU for me? -
47 degree for over 10 minutes of 4 threads wPrime. -
-
I am pretty sure this is 1 good way to fcuk up the GPUs. Not much protection at all. -
nope. not at all. it is a fail safe to keep you from losing your work and or corrupting your hard drive due to a vga driver crash. (due to over heating)
your cpu has the same feature, but it kicks in at 98c's and down clocks for about 1 second then goes back to normal speed. we thoroughly tested the x9100/x9000. -
AW Roswell told me the safe zone for this GPU is below 90.
-
Wow.. all I can say is LOL at the tape still on the thermal grease. Looks like the integration tech forgot to remove it and your system was never properly stressed afterwards. I'm sure this would have become evident during the stress tests BEFORE leaving the manufacturing plant had it been done. Great catch man.
-
The problem is my GPUs are screwed badly while stressed through days of benchies, basically, without any heatsink and cooling attached to the GPUs.
As well as the components beside the gpus.
At freaking 110 degree. -
no they arent. if they we're you would seriously know it.
but you can always try to have them drop ship you two brand new cards or wait and send it in or roll with what you got and call them throughly broken in. and you know they really work!!
edit: although the sensor thing has me wondering... but it could have been thrown off by the tape, because when the gpu or cpu goes up...so does that dammn thermal zone sensor. and it's usually guareenteed to kick in at 98c. (usually) -
I can't believe AW left the the tape on the GPU's, that's such a rookie move by a supposedly top gaming laptop Co.
Ever since they have been bought out by Dell, it's been all downhill, sloppy work..bad,bad AW. -
You know what's like to run crossfire without heatsink and fan? -
nope. but i know what it's like to run a cpu and a few nvidia cards with out heat sinks and fans.
you already see what i recommended a while ago...send it back, but you said you couldn't be without it.
personally, i would have sent that thing back over night delivery they would have had it for 1 to two days, then over night it back. down time 4 to 6 days -
I dont know if I should check if there is a tape for the CPU too.
-
really depends on the temps your seeing. but knowing me...i would look to be sure. make sure you have extra thermal grease just in case you need to add some.
What temp do you have for your 3870x2
