So, it seems like the 6224w has been shipping for a while, and that some have recieved their computers by now.

    So where are the reviews?

After a lot of activity here and some previews and first impressions nothing new has been posted for a few days now. Seemed earlier like quite a few people here had already placed their orders, so they should have their laptops by now, right?

I'm just about to buy a new laptop, my options at the moment are the 6224w or the MBP... And I would like to see a final review of the 6224w before I make up my mind. :)

The swedish site shows an 8 day delivery time, so I supposed they had begun shipping already...

Haven't read that review, will give it a try even though it was a few years since I last studied german :)

We have started to ship the first mashines. I think the first ones was shiped late last week.

We don't take any specified country first. All mashines are being built and shipt in the same order as the orders came in, it doesn't matter if they are German, UK, Danish ore from any other country.

The big wave of shipments will probably come next week, because we get a big delivery och barebones this sunday (the produktion is working the hole weekend because of the many orders), the first delivery we got was just a small one and all of them are allready been sendt out.

I believe that my notebook (6324W) was delivered on Monday. However I work away from home during the week and so haven't had the chance to open it yet.

I am flying home tomorrow night and so can give my first impressions and a mini review on Saturday/Sunday.

Did you get the white or black keyboard? Yours is the only first 6324W I have heard of. Take some detailed pictuers.

I think I went for the white keyboard but can't quite remember.
I am flying back home tonight so can post some pictures tomorrow.

I received my 6324W yesterday, white keyboard. Very impressed so far but will do a mini review for this forum later. Best leave it to Smit for the pictures as I don't have a digital camera, just my crappy phone camera.

Yes! This is exactly what I was looking for. First impressions would be very appreciated. Areas that concern me the most are:

    Noise levels
    Screen quality
    Keyboard quality
Quality of VGA-out (why can't manufacturers just switch to DVI-out, was ages since it happened on desktops)

Thanks in advance for any opinions and impressions about the 6x24w!

I think one reason why it has not happend on laptops is that people use beamers all the time. I know I do. All beamers I have seen use a VGA-in and dont have DVI. People would be to lazy to carry an adapter for DVI -> VGA and you risk forgetting it and then you cant use the beamer.

Many new models use VGA and a HDMI port where the HDMI port can output a DVI signal. But you cant do without VGA.

I would understand using VGA on business models, but not on consumer models. I think laptops targeted for media use (consumer models) are much more likely to be connected to a tv or external monitor than a projector.

Let the business models keep all the legacy stuff.

Wouldn't it be possible to make a DVI->VGA cable with the adapter built in? Should solve the problem, quick and easy.

HDMI could solve this problem as well, but I have to disagree with you when you say many new models are shipping with it. As far as I know, only a few of the latest high-end laptops (e.g. G1s) comes with HDMI, as well as a few upcoming models (HP 8510p). On several others HDMI is only an option for a very specific configurations of the machine (Vaio FZ). It's not readily available or broadly adopted by laptop manufacturers across all market segments.

    Ollibolli:

Noise levels = it's quiet as a mouse idle, surprisingly quiet when under load too. Noise isn't a problem.
Screen quality = again very nice, crystal clear and I like the coating it has too
Keyboard = it's OK. I'm still trying to get used to it and I'm afraid I can't really compare it with other notebooks. The keys are fairly firm. My biggest annoyance is the placement of the Fn key where the Ctrl key should be, though this may be a common laptop quirk?
VGA out = plugged it into my PC's TFT and seems fine. Quality didn't look diminished.

    Hope this helps.

Well I just got back home and opened my Znote 6324W.
Got to say that it looks very stylish IMO.
Finished loading windows and so should get a proper review and some pictures this weekend.

My only grievance is that it came with Vista Business instead of Vista Ultimate but that was mainly my fault due to selecting the wrong O/S when ordering. Not enough time to change the order it would seem. Guess I'll just install windows Vista Ultimate myself though so no loss there.

I'd appreciate that! Would be nice to hear your opinions on the build/screen quality aswell as some nice photos depicting the dimensions and how slimline it really is. :)

pnatress: The placement of the Fn key is common on notebooks, annoying as it may be. Your initial impression of the keyboard sounds ok, in my opinion most notebook keyboards feel soft and mushy, which makes them uncomfortable to type on for longer periods due to poor feedback. I'd very much like a notebook with a "firmer" keyboard.

Thanks for the initial impressions, both of you. I'm looking forward to a more in depth review later!

Oh, one more thing you might be able to comment on early: does the notebook get hot when idle/under load?

How is the UK keyboard layout overall? I was shocked when I saw the germany layout. The spacebar is really small and the <> key and insert key are next to the space bar ??? I have used many laptops including 14,1 and 13,3 inch versions. non have a layout like this. I hope it is not to hard to get used too.

wave, all in all it's not hard to get used to, you quickly get used the the smaller space bar, and the overall key layout :)

I'm also very interested in this. I usually have the laptop in my lap and would like to know how the temps and noise is affected by this. Also, is the bottom of the laptop getting hot when doing light surfing in the lap.

The UK layout is as you described, wave. Backslash is next to the spacebar and the left shift key is twice as long as a standard keyboard, filling its place. I'm not sure what the point of this is. And the INS key is on the right of the spacebar, making it easier to accidentally enter overtype mode than it should be. Still, I've had a couple of hours typing on it and I'm already getting used to it, as Rene says ;) (the small spacebar was never a problem, if you rest your hands in the proper position your thumbs are always on the centre of it).

Is that keyboard layout with the small space bar and button placement the same for the Swedish version? Looks a bit weird to me...
