I'm considering buying a Compal Hel80, but I've only been able to find them at www.milestonepc.com and they don't have all the options that I'm interested in.

I also can't find it with the wsxga+ and the Bizcom site doesn't have the Hel80 in it's online store.

Well..I asked Danny at MilestonePC if he were to get the HEL80 withWSXGA+ display.

He said: "I will say by 90%, we will NOT have that high resolution Compal"

    :(

The problem with ordering from the states is that you have to pay a customs fee and with a laptop that could get expensive.

also, the shipping to and from the retailer in case something is wrong will be too expensive..

I'm also looking for a Compal HEL80 in Canada, and have only found been able to find them at MilestonePC.com. I e-mailed the site, but I haven't gotten a response yet...so I was wondering if anyone here knows if the HEL80's from MilestonePC.com come assembled? I also was wondering what the warranties were like...and also, Bluetooth was not an avilable option, does it come standard (or is it part of the wireless card...?)? Any other information regarding the HEL80's from MilestonePC.com would be mighty useful. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat. I've been looking at milestonepc.com as where I would get mine but I'd like to hear someone else's experience first.

They will assemble it with the parts you choose, unless you tell them not to. As for the bluetooth, I don't know why it's not there. Maybe the VBI model doesn't have it?

i might be able to answer some of those questions when mine arrives- i ordered mine monday from milestonepc.

apparently they are receiving the compals early this coming week- thus mine should be here probably beginning of next week or so.

In Canada, we will start from VBI Compal first, El80 will be there next week, and soon we will add HGL30, maybe later also HEL80 WSXGA+.

In US, we started HEL80 WSXGA+ already, VBI EL80 is also there.

Sorry, somehow we missed your e-mail.

Yes we always assemble and test unless you say not to. Warranty is done by Intel through us.

Here is the std specs of VBI EL80:

    VBI EL80 15.4 WXGA

    Memory: 2GB of DDR2533/667SODIMM (2 SODIMM Slots)

    I will. :)

A guy represents Compal communicated with me a few times last week, they only have resellers in Quebec and Alberta( but not hard working ones ), no one works hard in Ontario for them, I will try to be that one works hard in Ontario or Canada.

You'll need to check with Customs and verify this, but I don't believe there is any duty associated with computer equipment being purchased in the US. You'll probably have to pay GST + your provincial sales tax though.

I live in a border town and learned which categories they are sticky about over the years.

I've noticed that recently there are a few more places offering the VBI model. Two I have seen are www.etccomputer.ca and ncix.com. MilestonePC still appears to be the cheapest.

Sorry to resurrect this, but isn't the battery supposed to be a 9 cell?

There are two options for battery, 6 cell or 9 cell. Most come with the 9 cell as default, but the Verified By Intel model ships with the 6 cell.

Hello People Im new to this forum and I have just bought a new laptop it is a Compal mind you the store I bought it from has the right to call it another name but none the less it is a compal HEL80. The stores name is MDG and they are in Ontario well all over Canada actually.

I tried to order with the higher res monitor to but would have to long of a wait they ship alot to the US for some reason. For gamming I just use my Acer 21" wide screen so that fixed my prob lol.

I've searched high and low to try and buy the Compal ifl90 (FL90 in US) in Canada, for which there are no alternative at all, no go. Canadian dealers and distributors are totally sleeping on the switch, incredible for a fast moving high tech domain like laptop. Bleh!

You should check AET Solutions, they are a company from Montreal. They are a Sager reseller, so they carry the NP 2090 which is a Sager rebranding of the IFL90.

Their website is a little difficult to navigate, but if you give the Tristan, whose email address is on the website, an email, he can give you some info.

I've seen a few people on these forums who have ordered Sagers from them are pretty happy with the service and the purchases.

    AET Solutions: http://www.aetsolutions.ca/
    Their store: http://http://aetsolutions.ca/store/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Sager&osCsid=40f0b61cd03e09761781cfef49b25996
