So im looking to get a OCZ and i was wondering should i go for barebones and get the parts myself or should i just get the whole system? I was looking at getting the Nagamaki from killernotebooks or dare i sayit the M17 from Alienware. im going to hae between £1500 and £2000 to spend so what should i do? just go stright for the whole system or get the parts myself. but where ever i get it from HAS to have worldwide warrenty and as far as im aware only KillerNotebooks offer that, correct?

how much faster would 8GB ddr3 1066mhz be compared to 8GB dd2 667mhz? is the perfomance increase in your opinion worth the extra £££ as newegg offer the later for $300 which to me seems like a good price

DDR2 won't work in the whitebook, to my knowledge. DDR2 is 200pin, DDR3 is 204pin.

as for the system/barebones discussion, i'd go with the barebones if you're proficient at assembling computers. so much cheaper, and you can spec it exactly how you want.

Depends on what you want to get out of it: Assuming that you know how to install memory modules, CPU, hard drives, etc. and you want to have some fun and personal secuirty by assembling the parts yourself as you would a desktop rig, then the barebone might be a good option. But, if you don't want the hassle of dividing warranty amongst different components and want all the parts covered under some warranty in a sense, then the best bet would be getting a whole system.

I personally would have went barebone had the option been there. It would have been fun.

Definitely. Also, there's a pdf file that shows you how to assemble the components anyways, in case you run into trouble. Newegg already offers the whitebook as a DIY barebone (Code is OCZDIY17A2), but it's significantly more expensive compared to the barebones you can get from Vendors like DarkSmiley, RJTech and others.

If you what you are talking about, is what I am thinking about, I think it has been posted before. But I figured it would just be easier if I uploaded it myself and posted the link here.

Hope it's the right one and hope it helps.

If you haven't assemble a desktop before and only done hd and ram for laptop, I suggest you not to build your laptop from scratch even with the PDF.

The reason: There are some tricks and experience needed to assemble a notebook even you got the pdf. Yes, you can probably get the notebook running by doing a crappy job installing it, but there will be issues, like static, heat, stability, loosing parts. If you don't really know how to do it and want a good stable system, then buy it pre assemble is better.

But if you have money, time, and want to have fun, then sure, build with barebones.

yeah thats what i was thinking about the issues then going for a pre-built system could be better, i guess i have plenty of time to make my own system this purchase will be my second laptop that ive owned so i dont really want to screw it up :)
